Yes, but that's for Airdrie-Bathgate trains, these do Inverclyde and North Berwick :D. If Mods/Admins see necwessary they can move it, I don't really know where it belongs.

At Kingmoor Yard, Carlsile yesterday there was a lone 4-car 380 there with no reason to be, heard a rumour it was knackered.

I read yesterday that when they sent the first train out on test, one of the air conditioning units fell out.

FGW are set to get some 150s from London Overground this month. The plan was to stand down one loco hauled set, and send some other 150s back to Arrriva Wales. Maybe they should send those up to Scotland.

seen as it will only be temporary as i expect them to be fixed soon i can see that being a possiblity.

They are different issues, but may well have an impact on each other.

Basically, the Class 334s from Ayrshire are going to be moved over to the Airdrie-Bathgate Line in December, and the 380s take over most services to Ayrshire and Inverclyde.

However the delay in getting the 380s on the rails will now more than likely mean that there's going to be unit shortages come December. AIUI, Airdrie to Bathgate will open on time; there line itself will be ready and there's otherwise no reason to delay the reopening. But this leaves Ayrshire with a shortage of units.

There is a contingency plan in place; rail-britain seems to know quite a bit about this. I've heard quite a few suggestions about this; retaining some Class 158s for Edinburgh-Bathgate runs, running a reduced Airdrie-Bathgate service to start with, borrowing trains from elsewhere (which looks unlikely), running 156s and 322s to Ayrshire, Diesels to North Berwick... most of these are just suggestions I've read elsewhere.

I doubt we'll here anything official from Scotrail until tomorrow at the earliest.

Note the difference in reports;
The tests were stopped due to the air conditioning unit loosing a panel
However, prior to that there was an issue with the brakes on two units
These reports suggest a "software issue"; smoke and mirrors is all I can say about that!

It is nothing to do with ScotRail, at the moment, the official handover of the first two units is a week on Monday, which will then include those two units running between Glasgow and Ayr
However, to get that in place the units need to be "fully accepted" no later than 16:00 this Friday and this is looking extremely unlikely as the route acceptance has to be completed first
So far this is about half completed, it had been suspended just as the station stop tests were about to commence

Therefore, this official launch is likely to be put back to the third week of November, which is also the same day the new depot is officially opened (15 November)
Personally, I think that makes more sense

I have fired off three emails to Transport Scotland, hopefully they will respond on Monday; to ask about the Class 380, the actual reasons for the tests being suspended, any impact this may have on the cascade of EMUs (although last weeks response was there would be none with details of the contingency), and what rolling stock would be used and/or imported from other TOCs (which I suspect was an error)

There are software issues, hardware issues and I also heard that one unit has been damaged (not relating to the roof panel).

Rumours suggest that 380105 is awaiting a return to Germany following "an incident".

The "empty" wagons have to be returned, and from what I can work out there are three rakes, and on the last trip two of these were put together

My contact at Transport Scotland has advised that he cannot respond at this time but will send me a further update on Wednesday
