Imagining of course that you will never be able to drive another train again! This is your chance!

Good choice! Personally, I'm stuck between a National Express HST and a Virgin Pendolino.

This is a hard one as I would love to drive a Class 91 however I would equally be happy driving a Class 390 depends what's actually available at the time.

I can see the attraction in why they want to drive one, they are superb trains at the end of the day. But, with the limited knowledge i have of them, they must be quite boring with just the one handle and a couple of buttons to press along the way. Still, the view would be nice

From a passenger point of view I mean I do enjoy a trip on one, especially when they negotiate bends at 100mph plus

Seconded. I used 'em weekly, for two years, between London and Manchester. I found Standard class horribly hot and claustrophobic.

So much so that, on the weeks I couldn't get an advanced First class, I used to fly out of London City instead of using the train.


Oh, what would I drive? Something eight-coupled over the Woodhead route...
