Sorry, Martinsh, but St Pancras International would have to be "St Pancras International Betjeman" after all he did to stop the station closing in the 1970s, and his magnificent stature, holding on to his hat, amazed at the transformation of "his" station.

No. The whole point is to name the station after the hero i.e. London Betjeman.

Pardon my ignorance...under what definition of "heroes" such as Drake, does Paul Lambert enter this thread? What "heroic" acts did he perform? As far as I can see, he was born in Paisley and is only 41 years of age.

Can we please keep to the spirit of the thread, please!!

Plus he used to for the enemy .

But I do agree, please, please, please try to keep on topic. Just stick to those greats who we can all look up to - Churchill, Brunel, Drake, Hawking, Newton...

Since we stopped insulting the French and confusing the Belgians by running Eurostars to Waterloo, how about London Wellington for St Pancras International?

Since the Germans now run our freight, how about British WW2 heroes for freight depots? <(

Re Dublin, like the way that one can travel from Euston to Heuston.

If you are a Man C supporter, Old Trafford Lionel Messi? (relax, it's just a tram stop, and it should be British heroes anyway)

I have just remembered a very important hero to commemorate.......

Hendon Bader....after the World War II flying ace who still flew after losing both his legs prior to the war.

Whittlesford Bader would be better. He was based a few miles away at Duxford.

What about this for a tongue twister:

Loch Eil Outward Bound Bonnie Prince Charlie (phew!)

Well, the 'Jacobite' still goes via there lol!

On the Tyne and Wear Metro it would have been better if Stadium of Light had been been closer to the ground and called Stokoe or Porterfield.

I know Turing has been mentioned for Manchester, how about Bletchley Turing in honor of his work at Station X, Bletchley Park

well he did bloody well getting back to back promotions with that Norwich side.

He is also the first British player to win the European Cup with a non-UK team, and was the first British player to win the Champions League since its inception

I have sent you a PM to explain matters, as we are currently in transit to Falmouth to start our holidays. It might be worth opening a new thread on the General Discussion Forum about "British Football Heroes".
