IET 1st class dispute

Apologies if the point has been made before, but one purpose of not showing First Class on a train like that is to prevent anyone claiming a part refund whej it is not provided (if a 150/158 shows up...)

BTW the national timetable does not use "Standard class only" (and hasn't for donkeys' years) - where relevant it states "First class seating available."

Have I understood this correctly? They want to charge standard ticket holders an upgrade if an IET is used, but they don't want to refund first class ticket holders if a 150, 158 or HST turns up?

Yes, because the first class service was never advertised as being available.

Exactly that. There’s probably also a desire to be able to assimilate 175s onto the diagrams in due course as well, without making it seem like they’re taking something away. Remember that not so long ago many of these services would have been 150s.
