I am currently the 16th highest poster of all time on here, and I've only been around for 55 weeks! tbtc currently holds 10th spot, but I'm only 400 posts exactly behind him!

Still, I do suspect that there are some out their likely to join me in the top 10 soon - I think they know who they may be.

So, two questions:
1) Do I post too much?
2) Is there a list of posters by average posts per day? I want to know how far up I am on that!

I don't see a problem with people posting a lot, as long as they aren't just posting for the postcount.

So in answer to your questions:
1) No
2) No idea.

I know all too well the perils of being addicted to forums on the Internet. I would just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't take over your life.

You get out of this or any Forum what you put into it, apart from the football angle (me being a 'Tim';)), your's and others views is what makes it interesting

I as well (note the grammar!), I've spent 1/3 of my time here on mod!

I would certainly never post just for the postcount - contrary to what certain people think...

Accusations here? :D (Yes, I can think of a couple)

My posts per day is far too high (21!!!!), so once I've finished up on the census and map, I hope I can bring myself to leave these forums alone for a while...

That said, it looks like you need someone to check the posts per day stats! ;)

I think people like me, who are retired, have far more time officially to make postings on the forum as some who may make such postings whilst at work, though I am sure that this will be during lunch breaks or at the start and end of their working day then to continue at home on their return from work.

It depends on differing interests, as the forum offers a wide range of sub-forums such as the specific one useful for employees working within the rail industry for advice on interviews and there are other such as NR General Discussion, rail ticketing and routing, heritage, photography, light rail, etc.

The main reason for a high number of postings must surely be the GENERAL DISCUSSION and the QUIZ sub-forums, as postings on there do not require detailed and considered answers.

Yes, in those areas it's easy to post quick answers and comments which means you can make a lot of post in ten minuites!

Sometimes it takes me ten minutes to type out one response in other sections!

I am currently in hospital having just had my pre-med and my surgeon is expecting me in the next 30 or 60 mins, I shall be able to return home tomorrow.

Does that mean I post here too much?

Edited as 20mg of Temazepam mixed in with the pain killers combined with using a mobile phone obviously isn’t a good idea for posting.

On the whole, yes, you do post a bit too much, but the general quality of your posts is far better than some other members with high daily post counts!

But I'll ask this question then, when did posts from the quiz forum, start counting towards your post count? When I joined posts made in the quiz forum did not count.

Posting to ask whether you post too much is rather like a situation in the University Common Room many years ago when we had a meeting to discuss how to avoid having too many meetings. :) :)

Surely, if you have something to say, you post. If you don't, you don't.

Or am I being too simplistic?

Well, it is always wise to think about what you're saying before saying it - if I posted everytime I had something to say, even something I feel needs to be said, I would've been banned years ago.

I believe that they always have while I have been around and thats almost 2 years now

It makes sense that all the posts from everywhere count towards the post count.

I don't think I post too much, although recently my posting has increased somewhat due to the quiz, but I try and limit that to a degree (whether it works or not is another matter!)

Not at all. You should only post if you have something to add to a current thread....or to start a new thread..

OF COURSE, IF YOU ARE ON THE QUIZ FORUM, THIS IS SOMETHING OF A DIFFERENT MATTER

Without the quiz forum I'd be significantly down on post count.

Since November 2010 (when I joined) I've made 2,499 posts. I started visiting regularly in February. It doesn't really bother me if I post a lot; it's a good forum after all and everybody I've met on here seems friendly. If you post a lot, you post a lot, simple!

I WAS posting too much until my laptop decided to fail. And now I'm in Southend because my mum was admitted to hospital with a hernia.

I was probably two weeks from the Top 10!

Now?

Well, given this is my first post for about a week...

I wondered where you'd got to!

I hope your mum gets better. My Uncle is in hospital for a hernia as well!
