Yeah. Don't forget to multiply all figures BY TWO. for 2 power cars per HST., and then there is the other powercar to fill aswell.

Paxman Valenta 12RP200L engines still power a signifcant proportion of the fleet. Rated to 2,250hp, although I am of the belief that there may have been some uprated to 2,700hp when GNER went up to 9-car HSTs. I don't have anything to confirm whether they did that or not mind.

Other engine types used are of course Paxman VP185 and MTU 16V4000 (the latter of course now features in all of FGW's power cars).
The fuel tanks capacity is not mentioned, but I am informed a power car's tank needs refuelling after 1,100 miles. So you can imagine it can carry a LOT of fuel!

The MTU engines are currently restricted to 2,200hp rather than the full 2,700hp that they are capable of because of limitations of the HST Powercar electrical systems. That's the case on the GNER/NXEC MTU sets anyway. I presume a complete redesign and rewiring of PC will be required to reach maximum horsepower but presumably would be quite costly.
