HST Derailment

Not sure if its been posted on here yet but there has been a derailment and collision involving two ECS HST sets at the depot at Neville Hill

That explains the information coming in to me that Cranes from Margam and Wigan are being reported as en-route to Bescot, both due to arrive between 1615 and 1630.

It the MML Blue / Gray. Hopefully looks worse than it is (trains on thier side always looks bad). Glad no-one was hurt but the UK can afford to have stock out of use (or even writen off).

It's the old Midland Mainline HST Livery with East Midlands Trains Logo on.

Its an East Midlands Set cant quite make out the one in the distance although it dosent look damaged like he EMT one

The two MML Sets were for 5C11 04:09 NL to Sheffield and 5C13 04:17 NL to Sheffield. It Appears that 43059 on 5C13 went side into buffet FO 41113 sat at 45 degrees. 43043 was leading on the set for 5C11 derailed pointing towards mainlines. The incident happened at approx 04:00 this morning

Theres 2 Leeds-St Pancras early morning trains at 0525 and 0634 culd be ther set that was due to work them or it might of being going to Sheffield to work 0741 Sheff-St Panc

If I didn't have to be back in school by 3 o'clock, I would take a train out there but I doesn't look good. It looks like some bogies have been ripped off the MK3s. Good job it's old liveried stock and not been refurbished yet . Someone is gonna be in trouble though .

Bogies are only superficially attached to coaches anyway... hence why most derailments end up with bogies detached.

The coach in the middle looks like a write off to me.

Its meeting up at Bescot with another break down train. I presume both sets will join and go to Neville Hill this evening.

According to 67029 the ECS moves were 5C11 04+09 NL - Sheffield and 5C13 04+17 NL - Sheffield, so I suspect they were due to work the 0527 (1C11) and 0556 (1C13) Sheffield - St Pancras International services respectively.

If I travelled to London at a particular time this morning I suspect my quest to avoid FCC (living near Luton Airport Parkway as I do) and still get there by train would have been a failure.

Was it the drivers fault or somthing wrong with the rail?

As everyone else has said it's a good job no-one was hurt but I wonder who is at fault and what there excuses will be.

1C13 0556 Sheffield to St Pancras and 1C15 0525 Leeds to St Pancras both cancelled this morning.
Also 1B23 0634 Leeds to St Pancras started at Nottingham at 0828, stock probably blocked in.

And with the fatality at Duffield last night, EMT are not only missing 2 HST sets but a 7 car 222 as well.

Why, the underframe equipment and bogies are just bolted on, as long as the main body structure is not deformed the coach can be easily repaired, of course with the number of spare buffets available (ex FGW), it may be easier to take one of these on instead.

You mean EMTs rolling stock? Probably! No cancellations at all in the evening peak, and no delays at St Pancras (except for a single FCC service) this evening.

Postponing of maintenance? they should manage to get one usable rake even if one PC and a couple of carriages are damaged.

Not true at all The 19:00 service to Corby was delayed due to problems creating the set. I can only assume this train was booked to operate this service.
