Not really a serious suggestion on my part, more a sideways look at the remarkable number of Acton stations. One more wouldn't hurt!
Either that or Wormwood Scrubs, which has already been suggested on this thread, and is quite a well-known name.

Honestly I wouldn’t put it past TFL after hearing that there’s plans to name a new Bakerloo like station “Asylum”

I was wondering when someone who suggest one of her majesty's successors.
That's named after Asylum Road to be fair, and wasn't the most popular option.

I see that the HS2 website has adopted London Old Oak Common as the station name on their HS2 journey planner.

I mentioned West London Interchange upthread, but TBH I'm happy with London Old Oak Common. It does need "London" on it though.
Or for simplicity/brevity, "Common" is removed. But then that does sort of lose the meaning of the area. "London West Interchange/Gateway" could work as there's planned to be a "Birmingham Interchange" (although this interestingly isn't on the journey planner).
In many ways, the acronym would be perfect for the area.
Well it should look rather different in 2026 - the Park Royal area is being completely transformed.

Yes, that's the one.
HMS Belfast's guns are aimed at London Gateway service station, so it is a very simple operation to remove it remotely, leaving the name spare for OOC station...

The station name ideally needs to:
- Reflect local history and geography.
- Have some bombast - we want 1/3 of passengers to use it to access central London, not treat it as some weird station in the suburbs.
- Have a 'railway' sounding ring to it.
- Indicate in simple terms that it is a major interchange.
I would go for London Grand Union Station.

I said Brunel Junction earlier, but I would not be surprised if it suddenly becomes "Philip Junction" or something to that theme...
I guess the typical person travelling into London will never have heard of Old Oak Common and have even less idea of why they should want to get off the train at that stop, and will probably opt to travel to Euston because it's known with good connections.
Maybe pick a name which makes it clear why anyone should want to get off, if it's because its an interchange station then putting Interchange in the name seems obvious, which probably means it won't happen and it will be called something meaningless and obscure, with people forever being prompted to get of at the next nondescript station for services to ....

London Old Oak Interchange is a bit of a mouthful, I’d say.

This is why I suggested West London Interchange.
It's in London, it's to the west of it (so you won't get confused into thinking you can walk to the City from there easily) and it's an interchange. It's also not a mouthful.

Bit of an urban myth that, which gained traction from being on QI.
No doubt they were ‘aimed’ at Scratchwood at some point, but they get moved around...
I wonder if it might end up with an addendum - for example on PIS or CIS "London West Interchange (for Heathrow Airport)". This is similar to how Southeastern (still) shows "Lewisham for DLR" or "Heathrow Central, Terminals 2 & 3". This might avoid the "famous Euston" problem.

It's interesting reading the ideas here and considering the situation elsewhere on the line. Both the HS2 Birmingham Interchange and Manchester Interchange stations have always been proposed with the generic names, as opposed to "Birmingham Bickenhill" or "Manchester Davenport Green" (or anything similar). If it's good enough for them why isn't "(West) London Interchange" good enough for OOC? Or alternatively if "London Old Oak Common" was chosen then why do Birmingham and Manchester have to stick with the generic "Interchange" names?
Presumably because both the Interchange stations directly serve their respective airports, but there are also other stations that’s serve the airports that already have (relatively) appropriate names.
