I'm doing a GC bash from York - Thirsk and back (would be Northallerton but the southbound and northbound services meet in the middle between Thirsk and Northallerton so no chance of getting a GC service back) next week, as a matter of interest, which HST power cars are currently out of action?

Very busy from York onwards usually, hardly any spare seats. You don't say where you're travelling from, so if it is from York I'd reserve seats in advance in the next couple of days.

Travelling from Eaglescliffe on the 28th. Unless GC decide to reserve every seat - which I've never seen - I don't think we should have a problem. Similarly as we'll be at the Cross when the train is announced a quick dash up front should do it. Shouldn't it?

That's the sister company, Grand Union. Trains will run from Bradford Interchange. Quite possibly could have staff at Kirkgate, but haven't heard that before.

They will now all be run under the Grand Central name. I read something about having Sunderland-London-Bradford-London-Sunderland diagrams, or at least a shared pool of stock, so it makes sense to run under one name.

No. Grand Union is just a development company that obtains access rights for Grand Central. Their website now just links to GC's main site, now that the rights have been awarded. http://www.grandunionrail.com/

Lord Adonis is said to be impressed with the GC streamlined fares options and is looking at EC fares review, but it seems that GC has been losing money. Is this still the case of has the 4th service made a difference to loadings?
