...while 221129 already works in the rail industry.I know more than you, I have been shortlisted out of 80 applicants for the role of Revenue Protection Officer and spoken with Revenue Protection managers in great detail!!
Being shortlisted for a revenue protection job does not necessarily mean that you have a lot of knowledge about revenue protection matters.
That is an excellent point, though the figure must be much greater than that. It's quite normal to identify savings of 25% or greater. On the other side of the coin there's probably £250 million year plus being extracted from the travelling public who use TVM's , click on Internet without knowing what there doing. Don't know of split ticket options, railcards etc etc.
You were earlier saying you wanted them to be taking witness statements from people.I don't think innocent people should be prosecuted either. I am just saying that IMO, it would be a good idea for XC to introduce more RPOs on board...
The OP hardly had a negative experience by not having anyone ask to see his ticket.to minimise experiences like the OP's.
And I've met, or helped others who had the misfortune to have encountered, several staff with responsibility for inspecting tickets, whose knowledge is the opposite of excellent (though I am sure would claim to have excellent knowledge if asked). If an RPO knows their restrictions, validity etc, then there is no need for people with valid tickets to to be prosecuted. All of the RPOs I have met have had excellent knowledge on validity.
In fact certain places are hotspots for customers with valid tickets to be incorrectly told their ticket isn't valid, e.g. the London Euston gateline to name just one.
