One other rule, you can't go back on the same service you just used in the previous step. I'm making an exception to that for dead-end branch lines, which can be done to the end and back again in one step (provided there's an hourly service of course).

The onward Northern service to Preston, from the break of rail power type at Ormskirk, is not a true regularly "hourly" service as such, which would rule out onward travel in that direction, so the only thing to do is to go back part-way along the previous journey to a station where another connection to another line can be effected.

To Chester on an ATW 175.

Are we allowed to jump within station groups in this game? I know we're allowed to do that on Rolling stock game but there's no mention of it on this game.

If not, that's invalid as the Chester services go from Warrington Bank Quay.

Sorry, I got the Warrington stations mixed up.

I honestly think you cannot transfer the rules of one quiz onto that of another quiz and we should all abide by the rules of this quiz that are laid down in the first posting and which the quiz has been played to date. All that is required is a service that is run on an hourly (or better) basis....with the answer naming:-

A)...The TOC (Not the unit class)

B)...The destination of the next station where the current service ran to.

I did not intend to suggest that we do transfer rules; I was merely not 100% certain whether that particular rule applied to this quiz, another or both.

From Wigan we shall use Virgin Trains to Wolverhampton.

OK I don't know if this is going to work but I had an idea for a game and I'm going to put it out there and see if I get any takers. Basically, we start at a station, and we travel round the country, but we can only travel to a station that has a service frequency of more than 1tph off peak on weekdays from the station we're currently on. So, if we were at Corby, we could travel to London St. Pancras, but we couldn't travel to Oakham. Make sense?

One other rule, you can't go back on the same service you just used in the previous step. I'm making an exception to that for dead-end branch lines, which can be done to the end and back again in one step (provided there's an hourly service of course). Also you can't change trains, you can only use direct services. So if you want to go from Northampton to Liverpool, you can go as far as Stafford but you'll just have to see where the next poster takes it from there and hope you can get to Liverpool somewhere down the line!

The rules of this quiz are those stated above. I cannot see any mention of naming the class of unit stated anywhere above, as if there had been any amendment to these rules, they would have surely been amended by the person who set up the quiz in the first place, as happens with other quizzes.

Is the matter of the Unit Type, something that is indeed part of the rules of ANOTHER quiz....I am thinking of "The Rolling Stock Game"

However, for the sake of good order, I will withdraw from making any future entries on this quiz until the rules are amended to show any other matters not already stated in these rules above.

I am not saying that anyone is wrong. All I am saying is that you can only play this quiz to the stipulations of the rules as printed.

If you feel that I am wrong in my understanding, please send a PM to me.

Dear me, I go for a few weeks and everybody except Class 172 forgets to include the stock they're travelling on, much less the service... I guess things change but this isn't quite the game I created!
It was never added to to the original rules, but it certainly has been mentioned.

We shall continue to Liverpool South Parkway using one of the 2 hourly Birmingham-Liverpool Lime Street services, operated by a class 350.

I think most of us assumed the stock class didn't need to be included as, so far as I know, it doesn't affect the validity of any move. (So, for instance, Manchester Piccadilly to Southport using an hourly service is still valid even though any one of 3 different classes could turn up?)
