They couldn't have got to Chinley on Saturday until gone 1030, 1L05 was in the way with over 100 people on board so there was no way to get a train past it to turn back.

Indeed, I'd quite forgotten about 1L05 being there. Still, 1L05's existence wouldn't have been an impediment to running a 1055 Chinley - Picc, or a 1003 New Mills Central - Picc.

Just one question regarding the incident on Saturday morning:

With TPE diverting via Huddersfield and Wakefield Kirkgate (not Westgate as I originally put) it meant we went through Meadowhall non-stop on way to Sheffield but the onboard automated annoucements and the new info screens announced we were stopping there which confused passengers on board what I want to know is there a way after a diversion to backtrack the computer? Only after Medowhall despite being on way to Sheffield the computer obviously was thinking next stop Doncaster when indeed it wasnt
