I am stunned that someone on here can still think the line stops at Birmingham. Nearly 4000 posts in this thread, on a rail forum, and a staggering lack of knowledge being shown.
I can think of alternatives, I am sure we all can, but cheaper and more effective than a purpose built line that won't interfere (much) with the current network? Nope.
