Hi Everyone,
I'm a third year university undergraduate doing my geography dissertation research on people's attitudes to the proposed High Speed Rail link in the UK. Having used the Eurostar, TGV, and High Speed Rail in Spain I think it is a great idea but I realise the cost may not make it worth it. As such, I was wondering how everyone here feels about the proposed HSR in the UK, whether it will ease pressure on the current rail network...whether the potential economic&environmental benefits (less cars/greater accessibility) will be outweighed by costs (cost of putting in lines etc/damage to environmental in doing this)...or whether it will be a more sustainable form of transport. Also the plan is to include a link with Heathrow airport so do you think it will encourage yourself or commuters in general to use rail transport instead of air transport.....?
Any replies and opinions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
James

The infrastructure one might be a good idea. Perhaps the mods will be so kind as to move the thread?
