On the BBC regional weather map on the website, on the North page, there is a list of named places. Against Sheffield for Tuesday, a temperature of 42 was shown when I referred to that page yesterday.Currently however, the hottest place on Tuesday looks likely to be somewhere in Yorkshire - Doncaster or York look the most likely candidates right now. Which really isn't where I would have guessed as a likely candidate for getting the hottest temperature ever. Will be interesting to see if the models have got that right.
I was up and about at 0500 this morning, carrying out the advice of opening all the widows to let any trapped hot air out for 30 minutes then shutting the windows and drawing all the curtains.
It is an unfortunate fact of life that really thick loft insulation is wonderful in winter by keeping warm air in the house, but in summer, any heat remains trapped.
