Lumo's full weekday timetable has departures from Kings Cross at 0545, 1045, 1218, 1436 and 2018 and from Edinburgh at 0614, 0911, 1114, 1612 and 1958. The timetable needs four units to work, two stabled at each end.
In response to engineering work that prevents the 2018 from Kings Cross running north of Newcastle, Lumo has had to start the 0614 at Newcastle.
Is this the right change?
It is difficult to see other options. They presumably can't be offered a different earlier path from Kings Cross as that isn't in their access rights. However, they could have axed the 1958 from Edinburgh and 2018 from Kings Cross throughout to enable the 0614 to run throughout but it would leave them as a morning / afternoon operator.
Should Lumo even be allowed to run any services just between London and Newcastle on weekdays if the pretence is that the services are targeting the air flight market between London and Edinburgh?
Are engineering possessions and inability to run the full service (as seen on weekends for most of the last five months) going to be the downfall for their operation?
