I have applied for the GWR Heathrow express trainee driver role and done the SJT and error check test, however nothing back from them yet.

Took around 3 months from my application to get a video interview so it's just a long process. Mine was for GWR.

what was the video interview? was it an actual person on the interview or just like AI asking questions and your interview being recorded?

There's a few Swansea drivers at the school right now. Some of the new recruits are on the apprenticeship schemes as well so the programme for training does seem a little out. I always thought it was a course every two/three months.

And sorry for asking a follow up, I’ve trawled the forums but haven’t found something specific to GWR and recent in combo.

Is the first 4 months worth fo training done at Bristol? And the hours are typical office type hours I take it? I’m external so I have many billions of questions and am trying to hold back!

It was three questions that you get two attempts to record. You only get the question moments before. It's all done yourself rather than with a person.

How long before starting did you get email to say you’re out of the talent pool? And when did you have your medical as well

I was fortunate to only be in the pool for a few weeks. I was asked to join a course two months after my DMI. They got me in for a medical pretty quick as well. It's a very slick process once you've done your DMI and there's a space for you on a course.

Hi all,

I’ve just been invited for a video interview with GWR based at Heathrow.

I’ve already passed all assessments, including the MMI with Southeastern, so this stage should be slightly different from a standard MMI.

For anyone who’s been through the GWR process recently:

• What kind of questions should I expect at the video interview stage?
• Is it mainly behavioural/competency-based, or are there role-specific or safety questions too?
• Any tips on what GWR seem to value most (teamwork, safety focus, customer service, etc.)?
• Roughly how long does the interview last?

Any insights from recent candidates or current GWR drivers would be really appreciated.

For all the people asking about the video interview, this is what I remember from when I did mine in April.
First of all it’s not an “interview” in the standard sense, it’ll give you a question on screen and you have to answer it within 12 minutes if I remember rightly. You get two attempts to record an answer which I believe is 3 minutes or less.
As for the content on the questions, I believe there was a safety question, diversity question and it’s a bit fuzzy but I think the third was a customer service question.
I wouldn’t worry too much, you get more than enough time to answer. Just make sure you watch it back, use STAR where applicable and that you’re 1000% happy with your answer before you record.

Just wanted to say thank you for the advice, it was much appreciated. Unfortunately I didn't pass my DMI this time around. Felt like it went great and wasn't anything else I could have contributed.
Guess I'll ask for feedback and try again if positions are going in 6 months time.

Sorry you didn’t get through, can I ask do you remember what type of questions they asked.

Yeah sure I remember it in total there are 4 questions last one is about reconfirming postcode and the first one was about a time when you have to made decision under pressure and second one was about a time when you have to follow strict procedures and what did you do and why? Sorry but I don’t remember the third question exact words but it was about training
