I am Exeter too. I passed the DMI at Exeter in early October. I would assume you'll get your start date before me.

Yes - there's several to practice before you do the real thing.
I've did it on a laptop before and smart phone this most recent time. Much preferred the smart phone for ease of scrolling up and down but do what's best for you.

I completed both online assessments for GWR on Monday. Just received an email to say I was unsuccessful. Absolutely devastated!
They can’t provide any feedback but I have a feeling it could be because I took 50 minutes to complete the first test. Estimate completion time was 20 mins.
Any ideas?

hope everyone is doing well and succesfull,
I am currently in the process with another TOC - going through the tests and have just taken a test with OPC, however waiting on results.
my question is - can i still apply for this position as trainee train driver with GWR and go through the process?

I doubt that as you wouldn’t have the 2nd test come through if you failed the first. Most likely you failed on the second test.
Keep trying tho, the more you do it the better the chances

Yes, you can still apply. Whenever there is an advert with any company then apply, if it's within your commute time limits.
I think the latest round of GWR adverts for trainees was taken down 20 Oct though.

I've heard nothing personally, but I saw somebody made a thread earlier saying they'd been unsuccessful following the initial tests after application, so initial sift is underway, I guess.

Passed my DMI for Parkway!! Absolutely over the moon.
Not expecting any movement for a while as I had mentioned before I had heard through the vine that the courses in November and February/March were full. Plus I’m led to believe that they wish for you to be available for 4-6 months (without any holiday), also, for those who question whether you get put through before others due to your test scores, they told me this is incorrect and it’s all down to your availability.
Can’t wait to get started, whether that be in 6 months or 12 months!!!

I know people who do the sorting for this and can confirm you get put on a list and scored based on your tests and interview results.
They ask the people at the top of the list first (availability obviously matters). But over all it depends where you placed on the scoring.
Is that for all depots or just Parkway drivers? If that’s all depots then I’m in for quite a wait yet

Central drivers which are both Bristols, Gloucester, Swansea and Westbury are all waiting/fighting over 12 spaces at the training school at St Philips Marsh. Next course in November only has 11 on it out of 12!

It all depends on people leaving those depots as well as GWR future proofing. A lot of drivers are hanging on waiting for the Sunday working contract to be bought out for the extra £££ which is causing less people to leave.
I can only speak for Parkway (can't even speak for them really but that's what I was told in my interview)

There's a few Swansea drivers at the school right now. Some of the new recruits are on the apprenticeship schemes as well so the programme for training does seem a little out. I always thought it was a course every two/three months.

Just had an email from GWR. Application is with the hiring manager. I'm guessing that I met the threshold for the initial online tests. It says shortlisting is next so let's see.
