Hey all. Got my DMI for gwr coming up. I have studied routes, things like spads, benefits of GWR etc as well as typical interview questions. can anyone advise what to hone in on at all? feel confident but scared and would like to know what the main points are. Thank You!

No need for you to know anything about SPADS and other incidents.
As for routes , for interview you may be asked about geographical area of UK GWR operates , perhaps name of the major hubs / stations.
No one will be asking , where depots are ( except one you applied for) or routes they sign etc.
Focus on interview questions but do not be “too good” as managers will recognise that you just learned your answers rather that answers being reflection of yourself.

Think about working alone, tasks given responsibility for and communication and in any scenarios try to follow the above hierarchy.

Correct . Out of 10-15 questions ( just guessing the number ) 1 may be 2 about the company , area it operates or classes .
Most questions will be about your experience in working alone, long hours, shift work, emergency situations and yourself.
I think you could find those questions within this forum .
thank you. am surprised to learn safety of yourself goes above others but I will keep that on board (no pun intended). will remember this hierarchy too

Hey all. I’ve completed the whole process now (bar medical) after applying nearly a year ago today. Did anyone apply around same time and have been offered a start date yet? Really don’t want to be one of those waiting for a course for months and months.

Any advice for the DMI? I've got mine coming up in Swansea soon
Just typical interview questions so make sure you know why you want the job, how are you suitable to it, what are you like with rules and procedures, what are the responsibilities of a train driver, how do you cope with shift work and similar questions to MMI regarding examples of a time you’ve done this etc. Obviously you don’t get a chance to write down answers etc and they won’t ask extra questions about it so you have to say everything.
Make sure you research company (stats and facts like founder, how many stations etc).
Just do some prep and have examples of situations you’ve been in (pressure, emergency, safety critical etc) and you’ll smash it.
Most importantly always tie in everything with SAFETY.
