I assume Castle HST 2 class 43 power cars and 4 mk 3s (not kept up with this thread). As i am typing this just heard guard telling a passenger this is the MK1 training set, no disabled toilet or space. Some passengers seem to think it's a brand new train. The carpet still has that new carpet smell.

Latest RAIL magazine mentioned Gloucester as a route for the mini HSTs, in addition to Penzance-Plymouth/Cardiff-Taunton. Is this true or an error on RAIL's part?

Not an error. There is one planned working from Gloucester which effectively combines the Gloucester-Parkway section of the existing 2A99 and the existing 2C65 from Parkway to Taunton into one new "2C65". The GTi set comes off SPM, ECS to Gloucester.

Should be off Gloucester at around 0702, all subject to NR confirmation or alteration.

Do you mean the 255 or Castle HST set. One door out of use how poor I travelled on it a few weeks ago, no intercom, no toilets working and very slow up the hills of south Devon. Plus the day after it was capped at Bodmin going ECS due to 'supposedly power car issues' and I was stuck at St Austell. Very poor GWR

So would you prefer it to have been taken out of service and replaced by a single 153? If it’s running to a Sprinter timetable there’s hardly a need for full power.

True not really but thats different on the south devon banks mind as I don t think they run through Totnes that much.

It sailed up the banks to Totnes like they were not there, it was a minute down out of Totnes but made it up easily. I came back on a XC HST set and it felt inferior, and I always felt the XC sets were better.

Does the first sliding door Mk3 set really not have an accessible toilet or wheelchair space? Firstly it is not good that the set is currently taking the diagrams of accessible trains such as refurbished Class 150s. Secondly it is a shame that boarding wheelchair users through the new sliding doors is not being tested in real world conditions.

I can understand no accessible bog because it's quite a big job to fit one, but no wheelchair space? How hard is removing a few seats and putting up a partition?

Lol , get it out quicker, we have totally underestimated the amount of work involved in running 3 hst contracts , the renatus shambles and the 150 job
None of them are performing well

Your not inspiring confidence that the HST sets for Scotrail, XC and GWR are going to be completed in anything like the required timescale.

No wonder the MK4 option is being suggested for MML HST's.

The situation regarding accesssible toilets was fully explained on page 19 of this thread, unless things have changed. Perhaps if the next GW set isn't coming until September it will have the new design TSD vehicle.

MK4 option for the MML would cost up to £35million for gauge clearance together with the re-wiring of the power cars and MK4 mods.

Ok so with the cost quoted on here of about 125k per carriage that's around a million for an 8 car set. So that could be significantly cheaper however it would seem from current progress that there isn't a cat in hells chance of these being done for the end of 2019, in fact you would have to be sceptical that even the current order book can be done for then.

Great thanks. Will have to pop out to Cam & Dursley when the time comes. I notice Cam & Dursley now has a "HST S stop" board for the Gloucester bound platform in addition to the IET stop boards and existing Bristol bound HST stop board

They've been capped at Notch 4 anyway.
This seems to have gone from a tentative "is this true?" post a few weeks ago on here to "accepted fact" without, as far as I've seen, anyone who would actually know confirming it.

I had it confirmed by someone 'in the know' on another forum, that Notch 5 has been locked out.

That doesn’t equal proof to me. Do they drive this set?

The best I can do is quote this:

Notch 5 locked out at the cubicle on both powercars, they will still be quick off the mark, 100mph max with only 4 trailers in between and no real chance of them going any faster as these will be used on stopping services where acceleration is more important.
