That's correct.I take it that's the round thing with the raised bit in the middle, given that the rectangular bit is the safety card holder?

They will be at hotel on the lash lolSet not out today. Door failure/Wabtec staff gone home !
No two were the same shape when new , the mk3 shell has large tolerances built in as the shells are all over the placeVery expensive because they have to fit perfectly (there is room for a bit of movement in a sliding door), and over time the bodyshells have distorted so no two are exactly the same shape. A bit like fitting new doors to a house in a way, you have to spend ages with a plane getting it the right shape because things move and no two doorways are ever exactly the same.
But the slam doors always seemed to fit. Is there no way to motorize the same action as a manual door, or is this not allowed, maybe due to the door smacking you in the face as it opens? No two were the same shape when new , the mk3 shell has large tolerances built in as the shells are all over the place
Only because each one is planed down to fit. I well remember as a trainee sliding a sheet of paper around not-properly-closed doors to find the fouling points and cutting them down to size. But the slam doors always seemed to fit.

43004 is on the retained list. This ran on the 8th; 5E43 from Laira to Doncaster Wabtec. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O88569/2018/04/08/advanced
43042 + TGS 44083 + TSs 42365, 42266 & 42258 + 43004 were the consist. Not sure if 43004's gone up to be converted, but 43042's on the "Retained" list, and the coaches are all due to be converted too:
44083 to 49104, 42365 to 48110, 42266 to 48112 and 42258 to 48113.
Ah thanks very much, must have slipped through the net when I marked them down as "to stay or not to stay"!43004 is on the retained list.
43195 doesn't count now its for GWR as use as spares as they cant repair as it would cost lots and no spare cab left.43024 is to be stored or something else, 43004 swapped and is next for repainting with 43042. Those being taken off lease are 43002/009/010/017/018/020/022-025/027/029/053/056/063/069-071/078/079/086-088/091/156/159-162/165/171/172/174/180/185/190/191/193/195-197.
Not strictly true. If required, 43195 could be repaired - but given the length of lease left, the time it would take to repair, cost of repair and there being no lease after it finishes with GWR means it is not economically repairable.43195 doesn't count now its for GWR as use as spares as they cant repair as it would cost lots and no spare cab left.
And the fact there is no spare cabs to replace the one that got caved in.Not strictly true. Which comes under the cost and time factors I gave above. And the fact there is no spare cabs to replace the one that got caved in.
Think you answered your own question there. Also to high a chance of someone getting there hand crushed as it shut.
Hit a tree on Hemerdon on 31 December - it’s been at Laira since then and the decision has been taken by the ROSCO that it is a write-off.What has actually happened to 43195? I've obviously missed that one.
Well if they made it for them to go to Gloucester then they should just run through to Worcester then as it would be load 4 rather than a 150 or 166 which is obviously shorter in length.Latest RAIL magazine mentioned Gloucester as a route for the mini HSTs, in addition to Penzance-Plymouth/Cardiff-Taunton. Is this true or an error on RAIL's part?

may be, but I have been on carts up near Worcester and Great Malvern and services are quite busy, especially when GWR are running 5 coach vice 10 up their. It would free up more Turbos.Yes, makes sense for flexibility, although not sure how busy they are beyond Cheltenham or Ashchurch. Maybe they are just thinking of 1 or 2 Cheltenham or Gloucester peak workings
5 vice 10 could only apply to the services from London and even then I think most are going to be 5 coaches beyond Oxford (?) so wouldn't have an impact on loadings on the Bristol (and beyond) to Worcester/Malvern services. That being said, I have seen busy 3 coach 158s between Cheltenham and Worcester before, but probably not busy enough to make an HST appropriate for those routes.may be, but I have been on carts up near Worcester and Great Malvern and services are quite busy, especially when GWR are running 5 coach vice 10 up their. Do you mean the 255 or Castle HST set. One door out of use how poor I travelled on it a few weeks ago, no intercom, no toilets working and very slow up the hills of south Devon. Plus the day after it was capped at Bodmin going ECS due to 'supposedly power car issues' and I was stuck at St Austell. Very poor GWROn one now 09:45 Newton Abbot - Plymouth, its glorious as this service is usually a rammed 150 and my knees are not wedged into the seat infront, just 1 door out of service Coach A.
