So let me get this right, 800/3 (was 801) are to be the electric only units? And will they be 5 or 9car? Or both??
Close, the electric only GWR 801s will now be bimode 800/3s with diesel engines underneath them.

How did you get those pictures?
800009 on Test today at Aycliffe 12/04/2017
test track is viewable from publicly accessible places.
The set being delivered into Doncaster from Southampton is T38/800302.
So the GWR set I saw at So'ton Docks would've been 800302?
Indeed, or parts of it. This means it wouldn't have been shipped in from Italy, rather more likely Japan.
Only the 802's are being produced in Italy, and this is an 800 and part of a nine car set which is being either fully or partly produced in Japan.
GWR Class 800 T10/800010 undergoing test in the Yard at Hitachi Aycliffe 13/04/2017
Okay, how do you view the yard? Or do you have special access?

It's one of the 12 complete pre series sets built in Japan just needs to be commissioned at Doncaster along with the other recent arrivals there T71/801101 and T72/801102.
May I ask why the 802's and some 800/3's are being manufactured in GWR green, and why the 800/0's for the 5 car sets are in Hitachi white? Was that just part of the DfT specification?
Also some North Pole Plymouth runs on Wednesday and Thursday making various stops, though the return schedules are not yet there.Have been looking on RTT for IEP movements over Easter, and it appears that night testing is resuming next week, operating some interesting schedules with stops and very odd places, including Maidenhead! Here are the two tests, one from Stoke Gifford to Paddington, then Paddington to Stoke Gifford:

Note: This also occurs for Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Passing So'ton Docks again today, 3 cars are still there covered in bird muck!
Does anyone know whether there are going to be further deliveries using this method via Southampton, or is this a one-off?The last three from T38/800302 due for delivery to Doncaster after the bank holiday.

Sorry, does that mean 9 trains or 9 coaches?Complete Pre series trains (12 due) arrive via Southampton of which 9 are here.
Shells arrive via Tees or Tyne Dock and are sent to Aycliffe as required.
I believe the shells for the 800/0 were built before the DFT agreed to GWR green base livery. All the shells for the first 36 sets have been at tees port for ages. I think shells for set 28 started arriving at the factory this week..
Sorry, does that mean 9 trains or 9 coaches?
Are they likely to be painted before they enter service or will they just get branding for now?
800001-036 will be delivered standard white with vinyls to be applied, 8003xx and 802xxx will arrive painted green.
Thanks. Have we had a confirmed livery for the Virgin sets yet?
