No trains stop on the fast, much a similar story. Try Southall, probably your best bet as I got onto the fast there. It would be on the down lines though.

Or Slough as that is certain to be free on the fast.

Its the green machine. Just passed it outside Paddington.

Thanks for advice, hopped off at EB in case it runs early. Fast all fenced even by steps, but nice shoulder height, good for photos!

I managed to catch 800004 as it passed through platform 9 at Reading earlier this afternoon. Although running on idle as it passed through the station, I was impressed how quiet the unit was.

Now looking forward to the other stock moves later on this week.

Probably. It's a bit early (to say the least) to know what will happen when the TMS gets the 'production' software.

Today, 5X80 moves either 800 001 or 800 002 from Old Dalby to North Pole IEP Depot via Reading.

Copped 800002 sat outside North Pole yesterday tea time. It's all over plain "off white" apart from one of the driving cars which has red "swooshes & swirls" over it.

(Maybe not the best description but hopefully you get what I mean!)

Yeah it's always been like that. Hitachi branding, many are confusing it for the Azuma which is similarly coloured but different in many ways.

Virgin have gone for Azuma and we already have Voyagers, Pendolinos etc!

What about 5 car 800's as Goochies (as named 800004 GWR loco Engineer)
Maybe 9-car 801's as Churchwardionians or Colletts and maybe the 802s for the west as Pasties!

Well, they'll gain a nickname sooner or later!

On another note, IEP testing on the GWML between Scours Lane and Didcot commences tomorrow night, brought forward from September. I noticed the up relief between Didcot and near Cholsey is still not wired, but I expect this will get done in time.

There is zero chance of the reliefs being wired by the early hours of Sunday.

There are - or certainly were yesterday afternoon - gaps in the overhead wires on one or other of the relief lines at Goring, at Cholsey, over Moulsford bridge and from just east of Tilehurst station to Scours Lane. There is no wiring on either relief line from Moreton cutting all the way into Didcot Parkway or through Tilehurst station.

This has been the case for a couple of weeks now - presumably because the wiring teams have been focusing on making the overhead on the main (fast) lines fit for the 800s to use

All the paths in the early hours of Sunday on the realtimetrains pages you noted in the GWML electrification thread are clearly marked ML under the Route heading - for main lines.

Churchwardionians is absolutely awful, a nickname should be short and snappy and not longer than the actual name :roll:.

Voyagers and Pendolinos are product/brand names and not nicknames, while Azuma is also a brand.

We've only seen one unit named as of yet! 800004 may or may not retain those names and the rest of the fleet may be named after something else or other personalities!
