Thank you for giving me my Saturday laugh I think I would rather a 14-day in the first place, but that'll have to wait until Summer. And then it's dependant on my situation. I am not going to deny that I would like to do an ALR this summer! I might even have to ask my mother to see what she would have to say on the matter.

The Master Station Jedi is correct. This station is Great Yarmouth. I would like to know how he was so certain that this was a seaside location though; being able to tell seaside from inland is usually my Force Power...

P.S.: My mother has ordered me a replacement camera cable! And coupled with my upcoming loan in May, I shall be back in the big time in under four weeks.

I am glad you thought that was amusing. Just had a rush of blood to the brain.

I would say that doing an all line is hard work. When I did them about 20 years ago you had many more overnight long distance trains. You now only have the Scottish and Penzance sleepers. We used to come home mid week and get a couple of good nights sleep during the 7 days. I have done 2 seven day ones with a few days gap between them but never a First Class or 14 days. I can only do one night on the sleeper and spend the next in a hotel if I am away, mind you I can afford it now, couldn't then.

14 consecutive days is hard going you will end up losing days the second week because you are exhausted.

Well youd better take a look at your force power then Ivo, because it seems to be failing if you cant tell thats a seaside location!!!
If im not mistaken, there is a yachts mast in the background! You dont often get yachts that size sitting in peoples drives!

Hard work? I did a 14 day and at the end of it i wanted to do another 14 days!! Could have carried on for ages. Never lost a day either.
Saying that, i did make sure i was settled in my hotel before too late. Most days tried to finish soon after it got dark. Didnt see any point in going round after dark. Oh, and it was getting dark around 7pm!

So there is. My mistake. If I'd noticed that was not an identical object to the lamp posts (an unusual occurrence; I normally would), I would have cropped that out. Also, I feel that I coud handle 14 days easily as well - whether my "wallet" (what's left of it) could is another matter

I predict that Anon Mouse selects Hartlepool. Now we'll see what my Force ability is like...!

Saying that, if i win the lotto, i'll be getting about 2/3 14day rovers, one after the other. No going home in between them either!!
I'll be attempting to cover every bit of passenger track going!!

I don't think I'll be doing an ALR any time soon I highly doubt I'll be able to afford to, and even if I can I'll have people telling me every day that I'm wasting money... So for the moment I'm looking at more localised runs. As with the North Country I mentioned above; I'd be looking at Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday (with Sunday being a "rest" day on which I would cover the Summer Sundays bit north of Clitheroe).

I wonder if that is a photo of Sheffield Victoria. Thus, I shall call Sheffield.

further to your point about ALR's, when I first got them I never spent any time in Hotels, maybe 1 night in a B&B or the odd night at home, but usually on overnight stations, or stop overs in the middle of the night in shacks such as Leeds or Cardiff Central!

Its not Sheffield, and the photo on the left is not of Sheffield (the photos on the wall are not photos of the station in question)

I have been at it 30 odd years and I have not yet managed it!

I finally got the last bit of the network still in use in and was in use in 1979 when I started taking note but still need some bits that have subsequently gained a passenger service.
