Medical passed! (Drug dependant) :)

Starting at Brighton 16th Jan 2023! (Just waiting for the contract)

Looking for like minded people that will be starting there & then too!

What should we expect?

How many roughly on a course?

Monday - Friday?

Hours?

It’ll be roughly
6 months rules
1 month traction
250 hours with a DI (including routes)
it’ll take 12-18 months but at the moment there’s trainees still awaiting instructors so id imagine 18 months minimum.
1 thing to remember during training, you’re very well paid throughout so try not to get too frustrated if it takes longer than planned!

Is that like on the job training?
They mentor you or do you shadow them?
Just wondering what trainees are doing whilst waiting for instructors?

self study days for rules
ask for a route ticket and go in cabs
sit at home and do nothing

I know trainees that do any or all of the above! it’s up to you to remain motivated, if you do then you’ll succeed, if you don’t then you’ll struggle on your end exam

Whilst waiting for instructors trainees normally do front end turns, where you shadow a driver for their duty.

Perfect!

Thank you for all the tips!

Are you aware of any resources to sort of look over beforehand - like in driving you get a Theory Test book.. Something similar for the rules or anything online anyone has found useful?

Learn the phonetic alphabet.
don’t look at anything else, rules are daunting unless you’re taught what they mean and why they are followed.
enjoy Christmas

Generally yes although they have been known to hire rooms in hotels if the location is better for the trainers lol

So even though it’s for Brighton depot the training is in Hornsey, am I reading that right?

Had no information what so ever about where the facilities are..
There are training rooms at Three Bridges and Horsham that are utilised by trainers that live closer to the coast
