Does anybody know if any of these positions apply to Ipswich depot? Cheers

There is a possibility but there are a few internal transfer requests in for Ipswich at the moment and they get priority but I'm unsure as to how many retirements are coming up there in the near future.

Cheers mate, it's worth putting in an application anyway. Would be ideal for me though as I live a 5minute drive from the depot!

Anyone know what the pension arrangements are? The FAQ states that you will only be able to joint the (better) Final Salary pension scheme after two years service with them.

Not heard of any other TOC's doing this - anyone know if this is correct for the West Anglia side?

No worries, can't hurt to put an application in! Ipswich is a very good depot.

Yeah I had to do 2 years in the IWDC scheme before I could swap to the RPS which is the final salary pension. Its just the way it is.

Do GA use enhanced scores for stage 1 & 2 tests? I had a stage 1 test with c2c and met national standard, but didn't meet enhanced on TEA-OCC and DFFT.

The two nearest depots for me would be Southend Victoria or Ilford.

Do you think this would still apply if you already work for a toc?

Only stage one as C2C did not accept my wafv score but aga did

The dfft test I only answered eight-nine questions presumably all correct and got through

Think the group bourdon and trp tests are the main ones they want enhanced on

That would be handy. I'll put in an application and see what happens.

Would I need to redo all of them or only the two i messed up on?

Only those which didn't meet that tocs standard assuming six months have past who knows you might be fine C2C probably have a higher benchmark than aga

The options were, as you might expect:

Liverpool Street
Ilford
Colchester
Clacton
Bishops Stortford
Cambridge
Norwich

Just out of interest, if there are any Greater Anglia drivers out there, what are the Traction and Routes signed by Liverpool Street and Ilford? Is Liverpool Street capable of doing the likes of Norwich with the Loco Hauled? Is Ilford mostly stuck to shuttling towards Southend etc.?

Liverpool Street is mostly Class 90 intercity work and a bit of emu work. Believe Liverpool Street sign Harwich Branch too.

Ilford sign as far as Ipswich, but don't sign Class 90's or the Clacton branch.

So Liverpool Street seems like quite a good place to work - especially if you get slapped on the 12 Car Cruise Ship lash up to Harwich!

I'd be very surprised if the advertisement meant Liverpool Street Anglia (90s and loco hauled work)

It will be Liverpool Street West Anglia. The internal transfer list to Liverpool Street Anglia is vast.

It is, once you have done 2 years + waiting list time and can transfer to Liverpool Street Anglia!

I didn't realise there was a Liverpool Street West Anglia! Learn something new every day. I assume they're Hertford East, Ilford Depot, Cambridge, Stansted?

Messroom rumor alert. There are unlikely to be many/any Anglia North vacancies. There are still quite a few drivers on the old terms to fill Anglia mainline vacancies before open auditions get held. Expect most/all to be West Anglia and South positions.

I don't like "I'm alright Jack" but being a Londoner I'm not fussed. :)

Exactly what I heard. For the GE side of things it's more starting to get people through the process, like a "talent pool" kinda thing. Certainly won't be jumping ahead of internal transfers or depot drivers who are under the old terms with automatic promotion.

Well assuming that it's true that Ilford is 15 Depot Drivers short, possibly because a load of them went running to MTR, and that when the companies "Split" there was a shortage where there was once common spares, I guess they're now crying out for people at Ilford?

There was a massive recruitment drive for depot drivers at Ilford late last year all of whom have the right to promotion. I know that there was quite a huge list of DD's at Ilford who are under the old terms but I'm not sure how many there are now. There have certainly been loads of Ilford DD's mainline training in recent times.

So if one was to apply for the GE side of things, would they be given DD? I'm located where I can do WA (which dont have DD) and GE.

Not sure. On GE DD is now a separate grade so seems to be advertised separately.

15 is a bit wide of the mark. Another batch going through now I believe, the problem is always that Ilford loses DD's to the West Anglia side when vacancies arise. If you apply GE it's for DD.

There haven't been lots of DD's leaving Ilford for Crossrail. I know exactly how many left to go MTR and it ain't lots! There have been fewer Ilford DD going mainline this year than last believe it or not.

Getting in off the street to WA is tough as your in competition with people applying internally. There is no longer automatic line of promotion on GE for DD but the ITT for the next franchise has generated the need for extra drivers no doubt with the increase in Southend & Norwich services. There are a lot of variables in the GA equation as to mainline opportunity in the next few years IMHO.

MTR will recruit regularly in the next couple of years, if your desperate to get mainline that's your quickest route. All told between GA, C2C and MTR over the next 3 years I reckon plenty of recruitment, but depending where you go you may have to wait a while for mainline.

Good morning! I saw the advert on Friday and have been seriously considering it since. For the past 10 years I've been a police officer in Suffolk. I know very little about train driving however I'm part way through completing the application. I only have one slight worry and that's should by some miracle I am successful, would the basic salary increase? I have the young children and don't want to jepodise their security ie... Short of cash at home. For a change of career to make me happy....

Anybody know if there are multiple vacancies or if it's just the one?
Edit: For Cambridge I mean
