If @Mollman perhaps changed the title to “379s to Great Northern and subsequent 387 displacement” maybe?shouldnt this be changed to the 387 page !!
That would just cause yet more duplication. There already is a live thread for the 387 to SN and 377 to SE, it’s in speculation though. Mod Post #1174 linked to it, I suppose to shift the 387 and 377 guesswork to a more appropriate place. If @Mollman perhaps changed the title to “379s to Great Northern and subsequent 387 displacement” maybe?
379s are planned to take over the currently 387 work/diagrams. With 387s becoming the "peak buster" units etc. Will the 379s entirely replace the 387s or will it be diagram by diagram?
I wonder if the 387s will become standard only then. It makes sense if they only going to be on peak crowd shifting extras, particularly as while it’s all very good having an antimacassar as the only differential now, while that’s the one single consistent first class offering, if customers start getting used to the big reclining 2+1 seats of the 379s, there might start to be complaints if they book first class on these peak extras and find a flat Fainsa seat.379s are planned to take over the currently 387 work/diagrams. The 387s are pretty new trains to not be used all day?379s are planned to take over the currently 387 work/diagrams. With 387s becoming the "peak buster" units etc.
They should upgrade the 387 first class section to 2+1 (only for sets not being sent away to Southern) to make the offering consistent with the 379s, with the TfW 197 Standard plus seat/IET first seat which is the best PRM compliant seat going.I wonder if the 387s will become standard only then. They’re not the same, just to clarifyTfW 197 Standard plus seat/IET first seat

The seat base looks identical, but the headrest resembles the one from the first class seats in the 185s.They’re not the same, just to clarify
I wonder if we’ll see painted light blue doors on the 379s?
Every timetable tends to change. In future I wouldn't be suprised to see 379s on peak extras and 387s on all day services with the rest of the 379s. One timetable doesn't fix things in stone forever. The 387s are pretty new trains to not be used all day?
They could be used alongside the 379s for sure its all still underworks but the 379s are planned to take over the 387 diagrams... but not all of them as there's only 30 of them vs the 38 387s.The 387s are pretty new trains to not be used all day?
Why?Driver training has also been suspended ufn
I’m not privy to that management decisionWhy?
Why?
Yeah that makes sense, GTR always seem to struggle with a shortage of train crewPresumably to provide more crew to work service trains, rather than cancel them.
It is a quite common action to take at this time of year.
I've noticed that at least one of the ex-GWR units now has GN branding, green grab handles as well as the yellow stripe for first class. So presumably these are staying for at least a little while.I thought there were three ex-GWR 387s at GN? It would be odd to split them up.
They never had external GN branding.
I like they way not that when any fleet moves operators after years of succesful use it always has loads of issues that delay its re-introduction. BR used to move fleets around with relative ease. The delay to the class 379 rollout is due to the fleet requiring more testing and commissioning than originally envisaged according to the latest Modern Railways issue.
The 379s spent nearly 4 years stored near the Seaside or in a field near worksop! Trains need to be kept 'warm' and moved. Sadly they weren't, so they need to have remedial works done to make them fit to run!I like they way not that when any fleet moves operators after years of succesful use it always has loads of issues that delay its re-introduction. They frequently go through warm cycles via a Shore Supply at Worksop. I think some even get dragged to Doncaster to Pan Up.
So, I believe, they're in good working condition... probably just need a deep clean!
I wonder if there are financial issues? There are other issues other than "warm" stored.
I cannot say what but I know this.
I noticed that, I think it is 387172. I was surprised to see it myself the other day. Not sure why they didn’t send the ex c2C units and the ex GWR to southern first leaving GN the same batch. I will make sense to someone. They have done well to keep the gold spanner. Wonder what the 379s will be like when they enter service.I've noticed that at least one of the ex-GWR units now has GN branding, green grab handles as well as the yellow stripe for first class.
