Knowing that you were going to the office Bosch, and looking at the time of your post I'd say you were on the 0900 NCL-KGX, enjoying free wifi!!

Can I just point out, that 3.8million is the equivelent of 4000+ First Class 14 Day All Line rovers at £860 each! These are all fag packet calculations, but that is enough ALR's for 153 people for a full year!

Assumingthat M8 works seven days a week, for 16 hours every day, which he wouldnt then he would earn £58,000.

Bring it on! There will no doubt be a full launch in the new year, possibly when we have all three sets.

There are a few of us looking forward to meeting m8internet!

I am a contractor, run my own company here in Scotland
The equipment is being supplied by Icomera, but has not yet been fitted throughout the trains
There is no point demonstrating the service if it ain't installed and working
I am waiting a new date for the WiFi launch, pencilled in for weekend of 12 January

Does it really need demonstrating?

If its provided by Icomera I doubt it will be too different from NXECs offering

Which is what we've been saying for a while! I would expect that the vast majority of people with a laptop will not need wifi demonstrating to them! I certainly don't!

Icomera are only supplying the equipment, it will then have to be fitted to the coaches
It then requires to be setup, which Icomera are not doing
That's where I come in...

Icomera's end to end service covers the following:

The provision of the technology
The negotiation with mobile operators and agreement of the optimum communications package. Always a minimum of 2 mobile operators.
Advice & support on certification and the development of train specific regulatory approvals
Installation
Operations including a range of support mechanisms, e.g. customer hotline and remote management as well as management of the payment processing.

Seems odd that when GCR could have all of this in one package they're choosing to use different suppliers!

Further to this the press release detailing their work for Grand Central states:

Icomera will provide Grand Central with a complete on-train internet solution, including all hardware, software, communications and support services. The solution is able to use terrestrial cellular and wireless networks to deliver an always-on connection to Grand Central’s passengers. The onboard service will be accessed via a Grand Central branded portal and the train operator will retain full control over the pricing and content of the service. Icomera will deliver the service via its 100% owned UK subsidiary.

From what I understand Icomera were supposed to supply, install, and support
The plan was to fit the equipment to all coaches within a few days, prior to them entering service
That won't be happening now, it's just no longer practical and Icomera will only be attending the installation once
Apparently Marcroft have agreed to fit the electrics, but not install beyond that

As I understand it, at the moment just one coach has the equipment fully installed and working, and six others have it installed
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
My contact at the ORR has confirmed the dimensions for the warning panel yellow
C1 Front-end colour
Except as set out in C1.3 and C1.4 of this standard and except where the vehicle
has an end gangway, there shall be a minimum forward facing continuous area
of yellow surface of 1 m² with a minimum dimension of 0.6 m when viewed, at a
large distance, head on from in front of the vehicle

He was also kind enough to provide a new link to the document

Don't worry m8, you're only about 20 pages behind in the discussion regarding yellow warning panels.

As you understand it just one coach has the equipment fully installed and working? What do you understand in that grand delusional world that you live in?

As m8internet has kindly shown by posting those dimensions (!), the actual size of WP is not very large.

Meanwhile, back to today's discussion!! ;)

Would you call being a reseller for Heart Internet (or equivalent) an 'own company?

Or is that just a small portion of what you do?

As per the railway industry, getting an official response takes time!
I was quite surprised the panel is allowed to be so small, consdiering how large it was on these locos previously (on all three livery variations)

That's just a teen-weeny little bit of what I do
The "website" is nothing more than hobby, although it depends which one you are referring to
I am currently working for about a dozen companies, on various projects, with probably another dozen lined up for the next few months
One thing I learned after working on the railway was never to work for just one company, as when they make you redundant your income can go from reasonable to zero, and I'm never having that happen again!
Here in Scotland the company I run has about 100 employees and throughout the UK there are about 1000 all-in

What a crock. It does not take time to get an official response as it is clearly laid out in Railway Standards.

I'm curious, so I'm directing this question after pondering on it earlier:

As a TM/guard/conductor/whatever the new title is, is cash preferable over cards (when purchasing tickets)? If it is, are there times when cards are preferred over cash?

Don't ask why I started pondering on it earlier, as that I don't know the answer to.

Hmm,I personally dont have a preference, its all "money" at the end of the day,the only thing I object to is if a regular traveller tries to be clever and gives you a £20 note for a £2 fare every day,to get round this I tend to give the change in "Sh'te,i.e 5ps.10ps etc..they soon find the correct fare the next day !!!;);)

 I got change in pennies one day, just because I handed over a twenty (the only thing I had) for a 75p fare.
