What on Earth is the point in that? Halifax for example has a population of over 80,000, Mirfield only 18,000, not the same scope :?

ah right, well if it's possible then it's certainly a good idea and it may give better links to Leeds and Huddersfield...

Read it in the current today's railways - they didn't give a source, but as seen in the Rly Herald, you can treust it :D

Mirfield is slap bang between Huddersfield and Dewsbury, both of which are large populations with no London service (plus the Northern trains stop there).

Plus, when I say "Dewsbury", there's a whole jumble of towns in Kirklees that run into each other (Batley, Heckmondwike etc)

Would be quite good - get off at Mirfield, the Adelantes flies off, and you get a train in 4 mins time to Huddersfield, and be there about 10/15 mins earlier than changing and wating at Brighouse. Its just a bit of a long way to platform 1 from 3 for dewsbury and Batley :D

Have any GC powercars entered service re-numbered, some posted that 2 powercars had gone through York renumbered adding 400 to the number.

eg. 43080 - 43480

Thank You

wnxx.com has confirmed that 43068 and 43080 have now been renumbered 43468 and 43480, and are ready to be released from Brush: Must have done away with the 439XX plan for some reason.

Was surprised to see that both GC Valenta HSTs were out in service on Sunday: 43084+43123 on the morning departure from Sunderland, and 43067+43065 on the lunchtime arrival from the Cross and subsequent return working.

43065+43067 allocated 0907 Kings Cross - Sunderland via Stillington. This is perhaps the last chance to travel on these power cars before they go to Brush. And perhaps the last chance to travel on Valentas via this route. Departure from York is at 1118.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
It's been confirmed that the current plan is for 43065 and 43067 will to go to Brush to be MTU'd as soon as the set currently under maintenance at Heaton is released for traffic. That could be tomorrow. So this really is the last chance.

By the way, if anyone is at Durham and wants to take a photo, the train is due to pass there at 1232.

I am thinking of going to York tomorrow and was wondering if the MTU set was out and what diagrams it is working.

Thank You

43084 + 43123 are currently on course to hopefully work the 0907 Kings Cross - Sunderland via Stillington on Sunday, as they should have worked the 1650 Kings Cross - Sunderland today, which should then position them at King's Cross tomorrow evening. If this happens, is anyone up for a Valenta bash on the freight-only Stillington line on Sunday? Chances are running out now.... :(

As for the MTUs, not particularly interested in them, they'll be around for hopefully another 15 or 20 years yet! ;)

HI all my first post and its bad news im afraid.Unless 43123 has had a stripe applied overnight which i doubt then 084 is on the rear of this mornings early southbound with what looked like a re-engined PC on the front and re furbed coaches going thru Stockton about 7 30. I missed the front PC as is often the case past here the rear was doing all the work and i never heard it till the last seconds.

Must say I love the new colours!
The refurbishment looks amazing and very eye-catching.
Just one thing - is it just the outside of the coaches that have been refurbished, or is it some little things inside too?

Regards,
Dave

I rarely comment on liveries and leave it to the younger frothers, but personally I think it looks a mess. The orange stripe doesn't go nicely over the silver and gold doors, the FC stripe is hideously huge and the logo on the side of the powercars is out of scale with the rest of the body.

It looks shiny, but the new livery as whole looks like a half-arsed job.

i know it's been touched loads but this mtu v valenta war is getting silly in my opinion. for example on a certain watch yourself on video website someone has posted a vid showing him and his mates on a platform with the new set passing through. when the valenta passes they cheer and thumbs up but when the mtu pc passes its all boo's and fingers, call me old fashioned but is'nt that just a pit petty. i love the valenta as much as the next person but come on surely this is modernisation of and old vehicle.plus the iep is suppsedly dead in the water. i did'nt see them doing that when fgw and gner/nxec were changing engines. i am however in the fortunate position of listening to the valenta work for the next few years as the RN uses them in its frigates and aircraft carriers to supply to the ship albeit the V12 so all is not lost in one respect. ok admittedly it has been marinised but you still get the valenta roar when it starts up :). so lets move on and enjoy the HST for what it is a great piece of british engineering.

It is very petty and annoying and gives enthusiasts in general a bad name.

The 125 Group have the resources to return a HST set to Valenta power when the time comes and one enters preservation, take a look at their website http://www.125group.org.uk/ ;)

You're right, some people get far too precious about these things
