Yes, last recorded use I can find was summer 2008 for the loco-hauled additionals that resulted from low HST availability. Also used for 2007 route learners. The standard shunt for sets prior to the timetable change was:

1N25 arr SUN down plat
5N25 dep from SUN down plat to Pelwa GL
5A62 dep Pelaw GL to SUN up plat
1A62 dep SUN down plat

Now the turn-a-round for N25/A62 is 6mins meaning there is no need to shunt. The requirement to shunt was to clear the platforms for Metro services

They dont use the sidings, but turn back using the crossover there. Last used on Sunday as the usual Pelaw route was out due to an NR blockade.

This was a few years ago when I last heard it mentioned, wasn't use if they actually used the sidings or was just to make room for the Metros.

Yesterday there was a solitary GC 1st class Mk3 in one of the sidings south of Newark (I think it was Newark, somewhere on the ECML anyway). Obviously it had developed some kind of fault, anyone know what was wrong with it? Not that its any of my business really, just curious as ever.

43123 - 41xxx - 40426 - 42403 - 42401 - 42405 - 42408 - 43084

NB - 41xxx is a replacement for 41202 stopped at Grantham following a HABD
activation on a previous working
42401 is currently at Kilmarnock and should be on its way back to Craigentinny for reinsertion back into public service
Given these coaches were "overhauled", does anyone know why this coach ended up at Kilmarnock for more attention?

It's part of the HST refurb program including MTU'ing to brind PCs and stock in line with the 180s. I am unaware of the particular conditions surrounding this coach but faults occur on all rail vehicles when in service - it's nearly 2 1/2 yrs since GC commenced working.

That working is self-contained and just goes Sunderland > KX > Sunderland each day. The set sits at London all day and is always a 180.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Actually, I was hoping for a 180 at least one of the journeys as i've never been on one. I don't mind them myself, they get you from A to B and so do their job fine.

The mother went down yesterday on the 12:54 yesterday, got a 180 - and had to move carriages because the Air-Con wasn't working. Im just hoping it will work on mine. Aha.

Thanks for the info guys. :)

The current HST in service worked 09:18 Sunderland - Kings Cross, then 14:20 Kings Cross - Wakefield Kirkgate.

First time a HST has operated on the West Riding route. Not able to get to Bradford Interchange as beyond Dryclough / Greetland HSTs are not route cleard.

Yeah, one class 180 in the entire fleet got people from A to B yesterday. So yep no problems; they're fine  The aircon constantly fails, and it's rare to find a unit on more than 2 engines in my experience of them! But, I guess that still gets you from A to B, albeit slowly and at much discomfort (you can't open the windows), so that's all fine

And they said it would never happen!

Granted, it didn't get to Bradford, but still.

Mainly replying to ask which way this goes. Through Donny, left at Shaftholme Junction, past Knottingly then Pontefract and onwards to Wakefield?

Yes, that's right. With a call at Pontefract Monkhill (but perhaps not in the case of this HST).

The HST (43067+43084) then went ECS to KGX and formed the 1918 King's Cross to Sunderland, previously booked a HST but now booked a 180. It should work the 0641 SUN-KGX tomorrow.

084 shut down with an air fault. AFAIK the set worked ECS to HTONTMD causing 1N25 to be cancelled although fault rectified for the set to work 1A62.The set actually worked 1Z25 to SUN over an hour late but terminated at Hartlepool, left Hartlepool on 1A63 around half an hour late and then worked 1N28. 84 was fixed for N28.

WRONG !!! 084 was suffering with starter motor fault which TRI rectified before arrival at H/pool and the set left Hartlepool with 2 engines running thankfully on 1A62

So what happened today? Saw reports of 43084 and another one (067 probably) out on N26 today but was reported through St Neots sluggishly and only on one power car.

Reported earlier this evening through St Neots again on A63 though with being power cars working and on time.

A60 was an hour late off Sunderland, probably late off Heaton. 10:22 ex Bradford failed at Newark with spontaneous brake applications!

Found it quite hilarious tonight
The 13:00 arrival into the cross from bradford, was shown as arriving at "20:05" when I arrived for the 19:18 Sunderland service...

19:18 departed on time, but quite a few were standing in the vestibule because the train was absolutely packed. Very unusual. Yes, it was a 180 and apparently is going in for refurb tonight? The crew were selling sandwiches at £1 because the 180 is having a "Full Service" this evening. Sounds good.

I think it's still linked in this thread somewhere, but I'll leave it someone else to dig through and find it

My mate was on the 17:30 off Sunderland this evening, which was a tram. He said it was in fine fettle and on time throughout his journey to York.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Are Sunday diagrams on GC similar to Mon-Sat ones? That is, if an HST is on the Sunderland starting diagram on Saturday, will it be on the Kings Cross starting on on Sunday? Or does some killjoy send a 180 up to London on Saturday's evening southbound departure to the Cross instead, to allow the tram to get maintenance attention on a Sunday?

At the last check, whatever does A63 (1730 Sunderland to Kings Cross) on Saturday night normally does the first northbound on Sunday morning.

43084+43067 apparently worked out of Kings Cross yesterday (ie, Friday 25th June 2010), believed to be on the 1650 Kings Cross to Sunderland.

Which, if I'm understanding correctly, means they might well be on A60 (0653 Sunderland to Kings Cross), N26 (1127 Kings Cross to Sunderland) and A63 (1730 Sunderland to Kings Cross) today, ie Saturday 26th June 2010.

Currently awaiting gen on whether this might happen, as I also want to be in the South West!

This weekend's diagrams. Normally I only do the coming day but this gives you an overall picture for those wanting a bash.

Saturday

1A60 0653 ex-SUN
1N26 1127 ex-KGX
1A63 1730 ex-SUN

Sunday

1N25 0907 ex-KGX
1A61 1342 ex-SUN
1N27 1820 ex-KGX

Monday

1A60 0641 ex-SUN
1N26 1127 ex-KGX
1A63 1730 ex-SUN

Btw, where had Bosch been the last few weeks: I haven't seen him (or heard one of his HSTs <D) in ages...

Dont I know it !! Im sure my announcement is still on YouTube from when 065/084 came to a stand due to seized gearbox !! ;)

Yep it's still there,

Just found this news article about grand central possibly running the Lincoln to London service which east coast abandoned.

http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk...-operator/article-2344471-detail/article.html

I hope Grand Central are successful but I hope the Lincolns stop at Peterborough and Stevenage to make up for the reduction of East Coast's stopping at Stevenage in the EHF timetable.

If they are successful means I'm very likely to be a regular, :)

18.46 to Sunderland off York cancelled, so if Wensley's gen is right, this makes it a 180 and not a HST.
