They still are available to all staff, you just need to ask the guard to issue you one when he or she comes round.

I was asked a while back if I wanted a Travelcard, but not since.

In theory a guard can sell any ticket, but I don't think they are obliged to sell one for an onward journey if you already hold a ticket for the service you're on, unless you board at an unstaffed station.

I've never been offered a Travelcard by GC but when I have asked it has been issued. I guess it may be the same under EC.

They may be swapped for a 180 at SUNDRLND as sounding very unhealthy last night and apparently down to one engine between NOALLERTON and YORK. 1A62 yesterday left NOALLERTON +45mins and was unable to get past what sounded like either notch 4 or notch 5 even when well clear of the crossover from the UF-US at the South of the station.

Just slightly off topic but I was at Kings Cross station last night and managed to see off the 1820 to Sunderland. It was good to see that the train was very generously filled. Perhaps it was the last Sunday service northbound but are GC regularly racking up the passengers on their route to the North East ? Enough for additions services to be added ?

I was on the 1918 northbound from London on Thursday and the 1434 southbound from Eaglescliffe yesterday, both were fully reserved, and had nearly all seats taken between London & York

there is never every seat reserved on a GC train, there are always unreserved seats...

not true at all...

i've travelled on the 0918 ex SUN many times and it is a very busy train, nearly full at thirsk!

there are also quite a lot who get on at York heading northbound...

If the Eureka timetable goes ahead, you may not have to worry about the train being reserved between York and London. According to one claim in Rail magazine, GC have been offered slots to get into London at the times they want. Problem is, they won't be allwoed to stop at York.

Depends on what train you're on and which direction, but I generally find that most people get on and off at York, apart from days where Sunderland are playing away in London etc. After peak time trains between Sunderland and Northallerton seem to be very empty, although Northallerton and Thirsk to York seems to be getting more an more popular due to the cheaper ticket price.

Why do we need yet another place for HST gen?

Yahoo Groups are so 1990s! (Being 1990s style in some cases would be good, but in terms of websites, it really isn't!) but are far worse than they used to be, I bet 90% of them are used more by spambots than humans. I can't believe anyone still uses it

1N28 1918 to Sunderland is worked by the same train that worked 1A71 0651 Bradford Interchange-London Kings Cross, 1D73 1050 London Kings Cross-Bradford Interchange and 1A74 1522 Bradford Interchange-London Kings Cross. This is also guaranteed a 180 working. (Diagram 183)

As i've just posted on WNXXForum:

180's are the only trains that can work the West Riding Services due to:

- Drivers not being trained
- On board staff not being trained
- Crofton Depot cannot maintain HST's
- Stations have not been cleared for HST operation

As for Groups looking outdated, so what? They do what most of us want them to do, and that's sharing gen. Now if we were still sharing gen by gathering on the platform at Sheffield every Saturday morning, when someone had kindly gotten the gen, then the outdated point would be valid

I can't get onto Groups on my phone, which is irritating. Means I can't post live gen, but I'm always hugely appreciative of those who can and do. There's many workings I've only found out about through Groups, so for that they are worth their weight in gold. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I nearly did a trip in the morning yesterday and today to do N26 to York and A62 back, but I didn't fancy the odds of getting bowled!

084 shut down with an air fault. AFAIK the set worked ECS to HTONTMD causing 1N25 to be cancelled although fault rectified for the set to work 1A62. Original post by Wensley on WNXXForum

The set actually worked 1Z25 to SUN over an hour late but terminated at Hartlepool, left Hartlepool on 1A63 around half an hour late and then worked 1N28. 84 was fixed for N28.
