Already hearing of some brutal cuts in my neck of the woods. The Interdeck coaches must be high mileage and have obviously been quite troublesome.
It might have been better for the X84 and X85 if these two services and the 685 didn’t all leave Hexham within 6 minutes of each other every hour. Having said that I took an early evening X84 into Newcastle and it was quite busy.
I fear 2022 may see some significant cuts in commercial services in many areas.
The Interdecks really aren't used to grinding through Newcastle and Gateshead, are high mileage and if they are going, it's a shame I ended up with a B5TL when I travelled on the X9 earlier this year. I did think the e400mmc on the X84/X85 were very impressive. Must be said that the Citaros were a vast improvement on the Solars... See what appears there next.
Given that the historic service pattern on the Hexham - Corbridge - West Road - Newcastle was 1 bph (685) with another 1 bph to Ovington (as the 684), it was always dubious whether it could really sustain the service pattern that Go Ahead's competitive incursion represented. With passenger figures being substantially lower, it really isn't a shock.
