Totally unsuitable route for a decker. What are they playing at!

No its not that bad, been through there on a decker hundreds of times you just have to take it slow and go wide.
Towards the end of February there was a newly qualified driver that was doing his first route without a trainer on a college route and he was able to do it in a wide ish lizard east lance trident on his first day, in the pitch dark.
This is Cornwall. Unsuitable is usually the starting point, then you add in a caravan!
It’s been a decker route for years. Have to get the angles right, something that was taught well at FSW during training. Unfortunately go ahead route training hasn’t been to the same standards as FSW, most of which they carried out in cars driving the bus routes. FSW did route training with a experienced driver over several weeks on service bus, experienced driver talking through And demonstrating everything difficult And tight

Yes, and the Lizard Tridents are exactly the same size as these E400s.

It's a driver error. It might be that the driver has driven that before and simply made a mistake this time?

I was more talking about the fk driver was on his first ever shift on a early morning college route in the dark and he managed no problem but was definitely driver error.
But ever bus type will fit through the mullion village if you take it slowly I know from riding experience that plaxton presidnets, alx 400, east lance tridents, enviro 400 and mmc all fit through there and I suppose the tfc enviro 400 are the same width as the older uni branded enviro 400 from first kernow

Yes all modern double decks are 2.55m wide, which is the legal maximum.

That number fits with my earlier reckoning when it was being said that the order has been part cancelled.
Will be interesting to see what the mix of doubles Vs singles will end up and also whether promised WiFi and USB charging will be fitted. I see mention is made of Plymouth and Cornwall - will these all be for TfC services.

I believe a few more E200MMC’s were delivered last month with 31 more of these to go and 17 E400MMC’s so will be an interesting 2 months ahead.

A shame that a proof checker didn't look at that TfC statement before it went out. Missing the 'e' off care means that the word 'car' appears instead: a Freudian slip? I speak as someone whose unpaid proofreading of the annual report of a large listed company which employed his wife caused it to be jettisoned at the eleventh hour owing to the omission of a comma (which altered the meaning completely) and cost the printing company tens of thousands of pounds, and a lucrative contract.

I see that one of the ex stagecoach e400s have been converted to single doors and so has a 64 plate enviro 200.

But are now useless due to the long wait for a ministry inspection. Any significant changes to any bus requires a new ministry fitness inspection.

Not all bad drivers.
That is a pretty stupid place to park really, nothing to say it's an emergency response either
Some TfC drivers are brilliant, just a few who overshadow the good ones unfortunately, although even the best can make a mistake
Now, that is skillful. (Obviously not the SEAT driver, who is a plonker.)

The first no. 2 journey of the day had 5 passengers, 2 of whom were sitting together, as it went down Market Jew St this a.m. I hadn't realised it approached Pz via the by-pass, but on perusing the timetable see it doesn't go that way back, so what's the point of it?
Later on, about 1.20 p.m. I saw a strange timetabled journey on the 8 from Morrison's to Penzance Bus Stn, which has a return journey a few minutes later. Passengers arriving at Bus Stn = nil. What is the purpose of this journey? It carried no members of staff, either.

Stunningly bad piece of parking by the Seat driver. I wonder if any fire engine coming through would be justified in shoving the car if need be. Well done to the bus driver though if he got that through undamaged: reminds me of the time I was on a TWM-operated rail replacement bus between Birmingham New Street and Redditch which was a bus in the guise of a single-deck Scania Omnicity - it all went well until the driver turned left one turn too early and ended up in a cul-de-sac which he had to turn around in. Took quite a few movements back and forth but he still got out of there undamaged.

Many thanks for posting. It would be interesting to see the per passenger subsidy figures on a number of those routes.......
I have travelled quite extensively on TfC routes over the last few weeks ranging across the whole of Cornwall. Several of the buses have been completely empty. I also regularly watch buses arrive in town centres with just a few passengers. From my rough calculations I think that the subsidy exceeds £20 per passenger on many routes and, on some, it probably reaches double that level. The pandemic is unlikely to go away anytime soon so how long can Cornwall Council justify these huge subsidies bearing in mind that other non transport services are being stretched to and beyond their limits.

Another thing to note that the P&R is stated as the council taking the revenue risk, which we knew anyway, so I deduce that for the TfC work the operator takes the risk. This would explain the recent assertion that GCB is losing vast sums of money.
