To put it mildly Edinburgh can be capital if it wants quite frankly we in Glasgow don't care the slightest as we live in a far better place in fact the only good thing to come out of Edinburgh is the railway line or M8 to Glasgow! lol!
As an article in the Telegraph last year said!
Glasgow which has been both European City of Culture and Architecture has seen more changes in the past three decades than almost any other British city. From a declining industrial centre with widespread pessimism about its future, Scotland's biggest city has been transformed into a forward-looking one hailed by many including Lonely Planet and Fodors as one of the hippest spots in Europe.
A large student population has given the city a youthful, progressive character and, with thumping nightlife, one of the strongest live music scenes in the UK, first-rate shopping second only to London and stylish restaurants. Glasgow continues to assert itself as one of Britain's most appealing destinations.
With an outstanding art gallery and several excellent museums as a starting point, one can see Glasgow's tradition of great design in the classical architecture of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson and the organic, art nouveau style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Today, Glasgow's School of Art continues to produce world-class talent.
Glasgow has a proud history - the long list of inventors, engineers, writers and architects of the 19th and 20th centuries were part of the driving force of industrialisation, tamed by socially progressive values in the 'second city' of the British Empire. Steamships and locomotives were built here, and great thinkers, such as Lord Kelvin and James Watt, tested their groundbreaking theories
Today it’s trendy stores, booming cultural life, and stylish restaurants reinforce Glasgow as Scotland's most exciting city.
End of!
A version of the above for Edinburgh would read " Edinburgh, it's got a castle! "
