I've only been on a 455 once, and the ride was terrible (Was southern by the way) and it smelt funny

What are the refurbed 322s like? Only been on an old 'Stansted Skytrain' one.

322s might be better becasue they're longer and have toilets, so I would imagine a potentially better journey on them. The 320s suck. No shoulder room, each normal person take up 1.5 seats, they're not comfortable, have these little stubs sticking out of the wall that scotrail claim are tables, have sever usage restrictions... should I go on?
At least 318s and 334s have shouder room, either have sensible tables or none at all, 334s have armrests. Both are much more comfortable for the potentially hour long + journey that 320s do.

That is a huge issue as well. The pasengers are terrible on the route. They won't sit next to people, they won't let people sit next to them, a lot of them stink, and they all leave rubbish. Another issue altogether, but the whole North Clyde Electric experience generally sucks since the good old 303s left.

Why would you have a better journey without a toilet? Have you ever needed the toilet really bad to find out you're on a 455 and the closet thing to a toilet is 10mins to the next station!? Its criminal to have trains without toilets, it really is.
What is the longest Class 455 working - can't be much more than an hour tops? If you can't go that long without the assistance of a lavatory then perhaps you might want to see your doctor? They're designed as commuter trains to fit as many as possible in - not long distance leisure trips.

Though what if you board the 455 needing the loo but couldn't go before hand for some reason or another...?
My theory is that, if they have better amenities, they might as a result have better comfort, internal environment and all that. Probably rubbish, but that's my theory

To be fair, Coxster, not everyone getting on the train will have an empty bladder. Some people may board said service with a rather full bladder, hoping to make use of the facility and *dramatic organ music* it's not there
A rather wet journey for the surrounding passenegrs results.
334s and 318s have toilet facilites, and the longest journey they make is about an hour, maybe a bit more on commuter lines because of the slow speeds and additional stops. Of course, they are locked on these services anyway.

All about purpose, if trains are only for short distance hops then why fit them with toilets when seats can be provided? Toilets can be put on at stations.
Of course, a train doing London - Inverness would be slightly uncomfortable without them.
However, do remember to lock them. A bloke found out to his cost that, yes, you do have to press the "LOCK" button on the fancy ones on GNER trains. The rest of the coach found it thoroughly amusing.

Will 4 or so seats really be missed?
I'm sure people would rather stand and know they can stand in comfort without being in agony.
Because the incontinent, naked shower man said they should just a couple of posts above this, of course.
:?, like what has been said, you could be fine before you hop on, but once you have hopped on and need the loo (depending how bad) what can you do than to sit crossed legged?
