I have just been informed that their is to be a large artical in RAIL magazine in the next few months about Parliamentary trains.

I dont think that they have changed that much over the years ?

The Sheffield to Cleethorpes via Retford. A classic in this area of Ghost trains. 3 Returns services only on a Saturday. But with a landslip at Hatfield, TPE are going this way soon, will the trains stop at Brigg, Kirton Lindsey and Gainborough Central. No because they are Northern rail station.

Can't see the point in that, the line is single and you can only go one way, if it is used for driver training which suggests EMT are prepared to use it if something happens in Ely, however they will only be able to use it twice at best as they won't have anymore trains in Norwich, coz if the trains can get into Ely to get to Norwich they can fulfill the route going back

Besides the glass train uses that curve daily from Middleton Towers, think there are two per day, first one just after 9am

Lakengeath station is used on a Sunday for the bird twitchers, they go to the nearby RSPB place next door

Shippea Hill has one train a day (weekdays) at 7:30 to Norwich but no return service, but there is on a Saturday though for some reason, not sure why they keep this open, its not like they will use it to start or terminate trains there if they can't get into Ely as the track isn't BI DI to/from Thetford and there is no crossover, the signal box there is soon to be demolished along with that of Lakenheath

As you will see from my Lincolnshire thread, things are moving slowly for improvments on this line, its either going to stay with Northern and it will run a Doncaster - Cleethorpes via Brigg shuttle or according to the Department for Transport a new TPE service will be running on this line calling at Brigg & Gainsborough Central.

Sorry I was looking at the future (May 2013) timetable, so your source info is right, 2B96 isn't calling at Wandsworth Rd this week because for some reason there's a VAR timetable in place, but it's back to normal times again next week.

Engineering work requiring a re-route maybe?

Both trains ran Friday, and 2B29 ran this morning. Here's another possible 'ghost train'.

I don't think PSUL would necessarily show the SE services being asked about though, as they themselves aren't travelling over an 'unusual route', just making an extra stop.

Ah...missed the Southeastern part. Think someone has posted the reason for the respective train. It's been running direct to Denmark Hill since last Thursday, and all this week. Looks to be back to normal from 22/04/13.

I also noticed that the train usually running from Woodgrange Park to Hampstead Heath is running through to Willesden Junction this week. Not that this is a parliamentary though, I imagine the tracks running past Gospel Oak are well used for freight?

ORR have now ratified the withdrawal of service over those few short sections of line between Ealing Broadway and Wandsworth Rd:

Just to let everyone know that in RAIL no 725 ( Out on the 26th June ) their is going to be a large artical on parliamentary trains, why they run and what benefit or non benefit to passgeners and TOC's alike.

It looks like the Latchmere Parliamentaries will now be withdrawn after tomorrow - 14 June 2013 - meaning that tomorrow is probably the last chance to have a ride on this route!
