They are a sort of light brown colour, and I am informed they are the Latvian equivalent of Brussel sprouts (served up at Christmas)

I'm probably wrong here because you specifically say "is" rather than "was", but Scoot was the name of a classified directory service that competed against Talking Pages. I had to give out the number several times a day when I worked at directory enquiries!

Was, not sure if still, a computer program used to set/control road traffic signal timings. (least was back in 1970/80s)

Ah, I wasn't aware of that, so we may have two correct answers here.......but if it no longer exists, then I think the below is strictly correct

This was the answer I was looking for......it is software to optimise the operation of a traffic signal controller using live traffic data, or in more recent versions, a network of traffic signal controllers. Generically referred to as Urban Traffic Management & Control (UTMC) systems, SCOOT is a world leading UK product, and for all you geeks out there, it is an acronym of Split Cycle Offset Optimisation Technique!

Phonetic alphabet. I for India, C for Charlie, V for Victor and G for George. Unfortunately, as I realised after posting, the first is the current international alphabet and the others the old RAF one, where I started. Also not sure if George was Victoria’s father.

It ain’t bismuth vanadate which is a bright yellow pigment I use regularly because it also has fabulous heat resistance but it is the antimonate salt. Extremely rare but naturally occurring but only a few grams has ever been found.

A well known show from quite a few years(decades) ago was “The Golden Shot”. Presenter Bob Monkhouse and the man who loaded the crossbow as Bernie - hence “Bernie-the bolt” . However, when the show started, it was not Bernie but another guy. What was the name of the guy?
