Those were Coventry-Simplex engines. The racing car engines had a different origin.

Correct. He was the name given to the whistler of ’I was Kaiser Bill’s Batman’, which got to number 5 in 1967. The whistler was actually session musician (session whistler?) John O’Neill, but on TV and on tour the whistling was mimed by actor Coby Wells.
