Wasn't it something like "Anasurtsee" - i.e. "son of Surtsee" in translation?
Not that one.I obviously have no idea but will try a name from Norse mythology
Fenrir
Not so.Wasn't it something like "Anasurtsee" - i.e. "son of Surtsee" in translation?
Not that one.Okay Odin has a huge number of alternative names I vaguely recall one like Alfodr so will try that
Alfordr
It is indeed St Abbs.St Abbs ?
Not that one. Don't forget we need the year and the location.Mount Erebus?
That is indeed the area in question. What used to be known as the Falkland Island Dependencies is now normally referred to as South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.Dont know the names of much down there. But guessing its somewhere in the south sandwich islands
Didnt know the answer so have looked it up out of curiosity (and self disqualification) and that is a fantastic name for a Volcano. That is indeed the area in question. What used to be known as the Falkland Island Dependencies is now normally referred to as South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
That information should now help the solving of the conundrum.
You were nearly right with the year, but this particular volcano has its better-known name from that of a medical condition caused by its fumes. Although it is on a British possession, the name of the island shows which country that was exploring in the early period.I wonder if the original name was after someone, everything seems to have a Humbodlt so I will try Mt Humbodlt and 2015
Absolutely correct on both counts. Just as a matter of interest, the island that it on is Zavadovski Island, as it was a Russian expeditory team in those very early dayslMedical condition caused by fumes suggests asphyxia, surely there can't be a Mt Asphyxia, but it absennce of anything else
Mt Asphyxia 2016
Definitely not the reason. No water in the river?
Not the correct answer. The river was frozen?
Correct. There was water in the Todd river. Isnt it supposed to be a dry regatta in alice springs?
