I think that this basically a controlled temperature (and humidity iirc?) environment not necessarily an oven but could be a room/chamber. ( I have one at work for controlled curing of resins, coatings, concrete and grouts and paints) . It is for crystals ( used for frequency generation applications ) where a very precise frequency with almost zero variation is required.

I had a feeling you would know. Yes, they are used to maintain a constant temperature for quartz crystal oscillators used in timing, signal generation, frequency measurement etc. Your turn...

As its an open floor... and it's Christmas...

Blue Peter a few years ago designed a Christmas ident (channel identifier) for BBC One from a competition winner, but an outtake was left in the final edit - what was the outtake and what item was involved?
