The Perishers?
Yes. Too easy, wasn't it ?
You don't mean that fella in his 90's who won in some seniors event a couple of years ago?
Who was the last UK track athlete to hold the 200m world record.[/B]
Well, I've Googled this to check whether it was the person who I thought it was ... and it wasn't!
I thought that it was a certain Scottish athlete from the 1980s. However, it looks like it might be an English athlete from the 1960s (who I don't think that I've ever heard of!) - am I in the right lane?

You are correct that it wasn't Alan Wells...
Well, that's annoying .... I can't find the article that I referred to above, so I can't offer the English chap in the 1960s as the answer.
However, I can offer John Regis, who set the British record in 1994 ... am I right?
Was it Peter Radford. I seem to remember hearing it radio talk show somewhere...

Staying with athletics. What is the link between a modern distance race, a Central Line station and a home counties fortification?
Well, the race is the Mile, Mile End is the station, but I don't know what the fortification is!
I have a vague idea that there is a connection between the 3000m steeplechase and Hainault. I think there may have been an athlete named Hainault.

Is it the Marathon, which when the Olympics were held in London in 1908 was altered in length to be the exact distance between Windsor Castle and White City ?
Spot on Martinsh, you have the helm.
Danzig/Gdansk, between Germany and Poland?
