D6975 you did all the legwork, and you were so, so close to the right answer.

A former subway symbol = The U which used to appear outside Glasgow Subway (then known as Glasgow Underground) stations. An S in white, grey and orange concentric circles is the current symbol.

Here's where it gets tricky. DaleCooper was the first to solve all the clues, but the original question asked only to sort the items into the correct order. D6975 was the first to do so.

I think therefore D6975 should have the floor. Hopefully that's ok with you, DaleCooper?

That's fine by me and a very fair and accurate interpretation of the question as posed, I wish all contributors (no names) were as punctilious.

What’s the next and final (?) in the series.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
A clue:

He's getting a bit old now, hence the unlikely possibility of a sixth performance.

That was my nickname at school, the other boys used to write on the toilet wall:

"DALE COOPER IS A CLINT"

at least I think that's what it said.

Next question:

A singer once decribed the small American town of their birth as having a speed limit of 25mph and a ban on motorbikes and the sale of whiskey.

The singer and the town please.

Have they all won a European cup but lost another cup final in the same year?

Haven't they played the highest number of matches possible to them in a season? I think Liverpool under GH hold the record for the most?

Okay, I'll have a go.

An easy one here. Which regiment of the British Army is the only one whose members are allowed to salute when not wearing headgear?

Letters on a keyboard reading down and left - your missing letter is S.

That's the right answer but another user has posted a question before I did, so I think it's only fair that AlterEgo's question is the "official" one. Unfortunately, that means I cannot give you the floor. Sorry.
