The Savoy is correct. He had two friends in his suite at the Savoy who were very much of that time and they got the cards from somewhere in the hotel. Any ideas?

Very close. Ok I'll give the answer & declare open floor as no one got all the parts correct. It was filmed behind the Savoy and the cards were written up in Bob's suite of rooms with Donovan & Alan Ginsberg. They used the card inserts that they used at that time to put between items of guests laundry- dress shirts, dinner jackets etc.
