Yes, indeed... Apart from the fact that Roman Catholics could only serve in the post from 1974 onwards, there is no provision for a woman to take the position and for them to change the name.

Not true of course.
For the removal of all doubt, Parliament passed Lord Chancellor (Tenure of Office and Discharge of Ecclesiastical Functions) Act 1974,[6] declaring that there was never any impediment to the appointment of a Roman Catholic.
