Not what I had in mind, but you could be right.
What is your reasoning behind that answer?

[The town I have in mind is now in West Yorkshire, and it made a material contribution to the war effort].

I remember once hearing that the manufactories in Oxenhope once produced cloth that went to make military uniforms for both sides in the Franco-Prussian War.

That's the answer I was looking for.
They did make a "material" contribution towards the war!

Over to you.

To be honest my answer was an on the spot guess (With a hangover). My reasoning was that according to a snippet of information I heard Berwick is still technically at war with Russia and I made the assumption that at some point they were profiting from a war with Russia.

A bit of a wild stab in the dark but not without a reason.

For someone with a hangover, that's excellent reasoning!

As Paul has declared, it's now open floor.

Well I feel a bit cheeky posing a question but what would have got your feet wet in Black Bear Park in Warrington a hundred years ago?

Could that be St Leonard's, Middleton, built under the jurisdiction of Cardinal Thomas Langley?

Which 20c composer's works include a symphony in the style of the earlier Joseph Haydn, and an adaptation of a children's story, and what are the names of those two pieces?

The piece written in the style of Haydn was actually his Classical Symphony, No.1 in D, not a Violin Concerto.

But hey, you are right in all other aspects, so, over to you....:D

I think the recipient was William Frederick Cody [Buffalo Bill], but I'm not sure whether the name was bestowed by the Sioux or Cherokee Indians.
