Leslie Compton is incorrect. He did win the League with Arsenal, and the Championship with Middlesex, but the League was in 1948, and the Championship in 1947.

Hmm. Cricket and football, then. I know that there was someone who played county cricket and first division football (goalkeeper for Aston Villa, I think) but I can't remember his name - foopballers' names rarely lodge in my memory thanks to a total lack of interest in the game. This would have been thirty years ago or thereabouts but I could be wrong.
