Not according to my research. There were tin, copper and arsenic mines in Cornwall....but not coal.

EDIT: There is a Cornwall Coal Company....but its mining activities take place on the other side of the world - in Tasmania!

You are correct. However it was not nationwide and therefore, in my view, not formally introduced throughout the country.
