Yeah, the ok-ish weather today certainly makes up for yesterday for me too. Wandering around the Barnsley scrapyards in that weather is NOT fun. Journey back to Stoke wasn't any better either, M1 was solid 'cause of the weather and a big fire next to Meadowhall causing traffic chaos - how anything managed to burn with that much rain pouring down on it i'll never know!

You mean to say the M1 was open? hock: it's been closed most of the day between J32 and J36 because of the possibility of the dam bursting.

Apparently it's now reopened.

There is flooding in Toll Bar, Bentley and Adwick and a threat of flooding in Barnby Dun.

Following the problems with flooding over the last two days, Network Rail has now re-opened the line between Derby and Sheffield. We will be resume our normal hourly service from Sheffield to St Pancras, departing xx27.

We will be running an hourly service from St. Pancras to Sheffield throughout the day, leaving at xx25.

Services to Derby will run to our published timetable throughout the day.

We will be running an hourly service between St Pancras and Nottingham, leaving St Pancras at xx30, and Nottingham xx07.

Its certainly improved here, only a slight bit of drizzle today, the flooding on the Willows has subsided although there are warnings of further flooding tonight hock:

TBH, this is why there are Flood Plains, they are called Flood Plains for a paticular reason, although I do off course have sympaathy for those affected, there is 1 message to be taken by whoever

DON'T BUILD ON FLOOD PLAINS

It's not cheaper & easier to build on flood plains.

Many settlements were built on flood plains from the beginning, and the only way to expand them is to go over the flood plains. Many parts of York are an example.

While most of Milnthorpe was on a floodplain untill they built a wier, my house has never been in any danger. It's right at the top of a hill!

Same here, well i'm not at the top of a hill, but i'm high enough up for the water to flow down to the willows, can only make things better down there!

I'm just glad we moved house - I wouldn't like to think what the old place is like, given it's in an area of Lancaster known as Marsh..!
