HST - still depends on which school you're at to varying extents. Local authorities make things even more complicated (don't mistake me for someone who thinks academies are a good idea...)

I think the S in MRS GREN is sensitivity (to the surrounding environment, ie response)

You get other versions with more in as well, making it fun, but those are the basics...

We were always taught MRS GREF, with nutrition being replaced with feed. And yes, S is sensitivity

We've started the syllabus in them but the exam isn't until year 11. English is the only exception where there's an exam in year 10 and 11.

At my school there are 7 compulsary GCSEs:

• English Lit. :cry:
• English Lang.
• Maths
• Chemistry
• Biology
• Physics
• Language 1 (French for me)

Also I have chosen three options (compulsary):

• Geography
• Latin
• D.T

Also because I got to the schools astronomy club I get to take the GCSE in that.
If you thought that was confusing enough, the year system at my school is even wierder: Lower Fourth (Y7); Upper Fourth (Y8); Lower Remove (Y9); Upper Remove (Y10); Fifth Form (Y11); Lower & Upper Sixth (6th form). Don't ask me how this came to be!

I know about the exams being in Y11. But you're lucky, I had to do some of my English GCSE at the end of Year 9!

At ours a language is compulsory, but the only things on offer are French and Urdu (German was stopped about 3 years back).

I chose Music (as a BTEC), History and Geography for my three.

Wish I could do astronomy, I find it fascinating!

The languages at my school are French, Spanish & German. You choose one as your 1st language (compulsary GCSE) and another as your 2nd (optional GCSE). I did french & spanish. Latin/Classics is also compulsary until the end of LR (see key in previous post)

Took me years to learn it though. No idea why, I just couldn't work it out, which is odd because I was fine with everything else we did for GCSE.

I only had to do one language - German - luckily. And I was awful at it. Ended up with a C overall.

In physics they now actually give you the suvat equations (along with everything else) :roll:

What are they again? Sommat like:
v = u + at
s = ut+ 0.5at^2 = vt - 0.5at^2
v^2 = u^2 + 2as
s = 0.5t(u+v)

if I recall...

French was one of the more stressful ones for me, although at the same time I honestly didn't give a crap. Still got an A* (yup that's me)...
Apres les examens, j'ai laisse tomber le francais...

That was done in another thread. Personally I couldn't comment, I got an A* in GCSE French and German and I'm doing an AS-level in German.

A lot of people weren't good at them though and I reckon the language department would close at my school if people weren't forced to take one!

I find the language skills very handy on my Schönes-Wochenende Ticket trips in Germany - up to five people can travel unlimited all over the country on regional trains for just 36euros on a Sat/Sun! Imagine that in the UK!!

They say it's a natural ability thing - I could apply that to maths which I absolutely loathed. When it's just all meaningless numbers I'm not good!! I ended up with a B, when there is a reason I can do it (sort of) and I managed an A* in GCSE Physics!
