Looks like some of the 99 London Gateway diagrams including 4M01 and 4M47 have been swapped for 66s recently. Drivers on social media appear to have been discussing and reporting wheel slip issues in the wet to signallers etc.

From the "Future Class 73 replacement" thread :-

The latest RAIL magazine has just dropped and has an item about the 99s set to be ordered for the Sleeper. The expectation is for 13x additional 99s, which would have electric train supply (unlike the first 20x 99s), possibly also 100mph top speed and each Highland sleeper would have one 99 run all the way from Euston-Inverness. The 92s, 73/9s and 66s will be withdrawn/cascaded elsewhere.

Further posts clarify that is 13 on top of the existing order for 30 of which 10 were to have ETS.
So 43 x 99s ordered so far.
23 with ETS
20 without ETS.
As the poster says - source RAIL magazine.
Thought I would copy here as it is the dedicated 99 thread.

I presuming the 99 on diesel is more efficient and environmentally friendly than a 66 in the highlands?
Its not down to any of that GBRF currently don't have enough 66s to fulfil job lists. Works out cheaper than hiring in locomotives from other companies so has resulted in 99s being used on RHTT circuits and also gets drivers trained on them

That's interesting. If its true and the class are struggling for traction, how on earth could they be getting beaten by the sheds in that regard? I notice the 99s are, according to Wikipedia, between 14 and 16 tons lighter than 66s, could this adversely affect traction? If not, then what else could it be?

99003 worked the 6X41 Dagenham - Garston cars and 6L48 return on Tuesday and Wednesday

99004 has been working intermodals between London Gateway and EMG / Hams Hall.

99005 was taken off intermodal workings last weekend, moving from Hams Hall to Peterborough on 4L13 on Wednesday behind 66309. It ran light to Leicester on Thursday, back to Peterborough Saturday (on 0Z98 I think)? and then to Hams Hall again this morning on 0Z66 with 66306.

99012 ran light from Inverness to Craigentinny on Wednesday for wheel turning with 99009

99013 has been on Inverness RHTT duties (3S95 / 3S97), currently paired with 99008

Is this likely to instigate further Class 66s being sent off lease?

Slight difference. 99002 ran light to Dundee Stabled in the yard and awaited 3S97 to arrive before attaching on the back

Yes sorry I was reading the TOPS loco history and relying on memory to decode the Stanox numbers... I thought 03054 was Perth instead of Dundee for some reason

Summary of Class 99 activity this week (Sun 11th to Sat 17th):

99001 has spent the week on infrastructure trips, including the Beeston trip on Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri and the evening Toton - Whitemoor and return trips on Tue/Wed/Thu. This morning (Saturday) it worked to Stoke and back on the 3J84 RHTT duty with 66705.

99002 worked 3S95 on Sunday with 99006. It was on the 3S97 RHTT circuit on Wednesday evening which was cancelled at Aberdeen due to suspected wheelflats. (I'm not sure if this loco was left at Aberdeen or made it back to Inverness with 3Z19 on Thursday?)

99003 started the week at Dagenham (after working the cars the previous week) and ran to London Gateway as 0L48 on Wednesday evening.

99004 has been on intermodal duties from London Gateway to EMG / Hams Hall this week (4M01/4L01 and 4L47/4M47)

99005 ran light from Hams Hall to EMG on Monday to work 4L72 to London Gateway. It worked 4M68/4L68 Birch Coppice service Wed + Thu then ran light to Dagenham Thu evening as 0L68. It then worked 6X41/6L48 Garston cars Thu + Fri.

99006 worked 3S95 on Sunday with 99002. It was on the 3S97 RHTT circuit on Wednesday evening which was cancelled at Aberdeen. It then appears to have worked 3Z19 from Aberdeen to Inverness on Thursday evening with 99009 to work Thursday evening's 3S95 RHTT, followed by 3S95 again on Friday night.

99007 ran from Leicester to Hams Hall as 0L47 on Tuesday, then worked 4L47 to London Gateway and spent the rest of the week on 4M01/4L01 EMG service.

99008 has been working with 99013 on Inverness RHTT duties (3S95/3S97)

99009 ran light from Craigentinny to Aberdeen as 0Z19 on Thursday afternoon. It worked 3Z19 from Aberdeen to Inverness on Thursday evening with 99006 to work Thursday evening's 3S95 RHTT, followed by 3S95 again on Friday night.

99010 - I think this departed Leicester as 0E99 to Toton TMD on Tuesday. It ran to Peterborough as 0E99 the following day before working to London Gateway on 4L08. It then worked 4M68/4L68 Birch Coppice intermodals on Thu/Fri/Sat

99011 ran light from Peterborough to Doncaster as 0E30 on Monday, then worked that evening's 6L84 infrastructure trip to Whitemoor and 7E04 return. On Tuesday it ran light to Toton (0M18) to work 6E20 return to Doncaster followed by the 6L84/6E04 Whitemoor trip. On Wednesday evening it repeated the 6L04/6L84 Whitemoor trip, followed by the daytime 6L32/6E30 Whitemoor trip and evening 6L84 Whitemoor trip on Thursday, returning to Doncaster Down Decoy as 0E04 Friday morning.

99012 remains at Craigentinny

99013 has been working with 99008 on Inverness RHTT duties (3S97/3S95)

Apparently 99 005 came to a stand at Crewe this morning blocking the independents whilst working 6X41. I’m not aware of the exact issue, but believe it got going again 2 1/2-3hrs later.
